I graduated from an overseas university some years back with a degree of Computer Science.

When I came back to my home country, the job market was bad for graduates in Computer Science. I was actually unemployed for a while as I could not secure jobs relating to IT. For me, I was adamant to establish myself in IT. I intended to get a job in IT so that I could be more proficient in IT. I was hoping to establish myself as an administrator or a programmer or an engineer.

However, as I could not even get an IT job relating to my degree, I was even willing to start low, as a technician in an IT field. I could do that as I know how to do some troubleshooting of spoilt computers and the operating systems. I even know how to assemble a computer.

I was also not willing to do any other job as I do not want to become someone not related to IT. I was also not in need of money. I was really insistent in establing myself in IT. As I could not get an IT job, I even considered taking up short IT courses to give me more knowledge on IT.

However, tried as I might, I still cannot get an IT job.

It was also at this time my aunt started to loose her sight due to old age. Within the last few years, she lost her sight considerably. My mom feared my aunt will loose her sight eventually. As I was not close to my aunt and she is not staying with us, I was not aware of her plight. However, when my mom told us her fears, I decided to take my aunt to see the doctor and make arrangements to have her eyes examined. I sort of know the procedure to do this sort of thing. The doctor subsequently found out my aunt has cataract in her eyes and made arrangements to have them removed. He also managed to get a new cornea for my aunt's eyes and her sight was restored. I also made arrangements with the eye hospital to ward my aunt for further observation to examine the progress of the operation. Everything went well and my aunt was discharged with her eyes fully restored.

It was at this time the job agency managed to get a job for me as a telecommunications call center operator. That was the best they could find. The job agent also told me this would be a good start for graduates in IT. As a call center operator, my job was to receive complaints from big companies about problems they might find with their telephne lines and forward them to the telco techinicians for them to troubleshoot. The telephone lines included international lines. My mom was very happy for me as it seemed to be a god job. She even told me it was a reward from God as I had helped my aunt to get her eyes healed.

However, while this job might seem to be good, I was not happy before long. This was because I didn't really learn much from this job. All I did was to forward complaints to the technicians to resolve them. I also felt it wasted my time as I am not really doing what I wanted. Before long, more than a year past and I found myself stuck to this job. Some companies I went to for job interviews even said I was not established in IT and I had passed the time to get an IT job as an administrator or an engineer. They said I should try to get an IT job as soon as I had graduated from the university.

A few years later, we visited a relative during a festive season where I told her about the problem I had in trying to seek a good job in IT. She then remarked why I had not approached a cousin of ours who owns an IT firm. We were all very surprised this cousin was operating an IT company. This cousin of ours was a close cousin of ours and our aunt. Had we knew earlier he was running an IT company, we would most certainly approached him to ask him for help and he would most probably helped me.

The question I want to ask is, did God really helped me when I secured a job in the call center? It was a job that was not really related to IT that I needed. Other employers also told me I should have get an IT job as soon as possible to establish myself. No one was willing to empIoy me subsequently. I not only didn't get the job I needed, I also wasted my time as I could have used the time to take up more courses to reinforce myself in IT.

I mean, was my mom right? Did God help me?

If God had helped me, he would have let me know my cousin was operating an IT firm and he could get a job for me in his company. I wold not need to work in the call center. That is why I feel so frustrated.

Really depends how you precieve God to be..he is to you what you think of him..but other then that..i think this is more of a question to be asked from someone who knows you well...like a friend..In life to get everything you want is not easy..i dont know if its the God;s way or not but i have learnt one thing that if u pray for it and espically work hard for it...and think positive..you will have it one day..and this i am talking with experience..it may come late but it will come to u.

Your time is never wasted even when you think it is... you met and learned from and about others, about another way of life, and this experience on its own, no matter what the job was, may well be necessary in the future, for helping someone else.

The help you gave your aunt is unusual for one so young, and commendable as well, you displayed a natural caring nature, a concern for someone else's welfare, aunt or not, and this as well, was a lesson and experience, that will benefit you within other relationships to come.

As far as God deciding that you couldn't get the job you wanted... please know this:

God does not prevent us achieving what we plan, He does not trip us up, that is someone else's job whose name I wont mention... but ,God does watch everything that happens to us, and if He didn't step in when you hoped He would, it's not because He didn't want you to achieve your dream, it's because He already knew you so well, He knew this particular experience of being thwarted and having to be disappointed, was essential experience for your inner growth and was necessary to strengthen your resolve and your understanding of the world.

Perhaps the lesson you have learned from all of this is, patience, and you seem to have learned that very young, you show determination, by sticking to your dream, and single mindedness, about that chosen career. If this career is meant to be, it will happen for you... but not necessarily in the time that you demand, but in the time it's meant to.

It's very probable that you have other pressing lessons you must take on board before that day arrives... and reading in between the lines of everything you've said, I have a shrewd suspicion that, you have a nature that is suited to the welfare of others, which you are more than prepared to use, before thinking of yourself.

Don't look so hard, don't keep thinking God is stopping you... He isn't, he just isn't forcinf things the way you want because He knows you best... and life on earth is a test for all of us... sometimes, we blind ourselves by seeing what isn't there at all, and sometimes, we miss the signs that are, because they seem so simple.

Your cousin for example!

Go and see this cousin and if it's meant to be, it will be... if it's not, then you are missing something else that is really meant for you. Take time to relax, to speak with God about it, and listen to that mum of yours, she's got it sussed as well:-)

I'd be proud to have you as my nephew or niece... I think you are meant for great things in the caring side of life. I think God already sees this too!

God bless:-)

Time is never a waste. Every day we learn something new, even if those experiences are troublesome. I believed you discovered that you really want IT experiences and that maybe you should be taking those classes to give you those experience. God has something good instore for you. God is always helping you, and is telling you in my opinion that even thought you want a job in IT your time to have that job is not suited for you at this moment. Keep reaching your goal and believe it God and all good things happen to those who wait patiently and with hope
