Please correct me if Im wrong - arent Catholics monotheists? Arent they only supposed to pray to God and God only? If thats the case, why does a convent of nuns pray to JPII for her to be cured? And, why, when she is "cured", does she attribute the miracle to JPII, when it is "obvious" that miracles come only from God??
And, why does this news only reach us now, when the miracle allegedly occurred in 2005 - two years ago? My opinion - it makes it that much harder to prove it wasnt a miracle at all, and as a result, JPII earns his "saint" status. What a crock... Either this woman wasnt suffering from Parkinson's as she alleges, or, she was simply misdiagnosed. Or, remission occurred - it is not unheard of. Certainly no miracle...
What say you, esteemed Y!A responders??

Firstly, as a Catholic, it would be idolatry to pray to another human being or even the saints in heaven(meaning asking them directly to help or cure us). We can ask them for their prayers(same thing as asking your mom, dad, sis, or bro to pray for ya), which is what I do. Not only do I ask friends and family to pray for me, but I also ask the saints in heaven to pray for me as well. Don't get me wrong, I don't think there's anything wrong with praying to God directly(a commonly misunderstood idea among Protestants). I pray personal prayers to God daily. I just think that the more prayers you can get the better.
I'm sure that the reason many Catholics asked JPII to pray for them is b/c he was a man of holiness and represented the visible head of Christ here on earth. Again, we don't ask humans through prayer to heal us, we ask for their prayers to God for our cure.

NO. He was only ordinary human being. That is why he died. If he is God why must he die? Now how come the day and night still changed. Who changes it ? If God dies, he is no difference than any other creatures and living things. Who takes over God to manage the world?

I don't even have to read your entire post........NO, he was just a man, the same as you and me. Just because some "religion" believes a certain way and just because they have a vote at the vatican,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it doesn't mean squat!!
Jesus and God is to be worshiped, not the pope. Why do Catholics kiss the pope's ring, he is just a man who wears white.
