The number of "theist" is usually placed at around 65-70% of the population, and the number of atheist at 5-10%, (with agnostics and others making up the rest). If even 10% of theist turned from their faith, it would be more then the total number of atheist. So it would be logical to say that more Chrsitians (number wise) turn from faith then atheist (number wise) turn to faith. Percentage wise may be a different issue....

More christians who give up on the bible... not that convert to atheism. That is kinda hard when you've been raised as a theist. Agnostic, maybe easier for a christian to handle at first. Atheism comes from angry christians mostly. And even through their anger, they still believe... they're just mad for a time. But when a christian gives up the bible as THE source of answers for everything, that is when he turns to agnosticism. "I believe something is out there, but I don't believe I have the knowledge or power to define what it is. I don't believe anyone else has that knowledge either. So, if everyone is wrong, and I am wrong too, then I should just live a happy and good life, and not worry about things out of my reach." Atheists believe in the opposite of god... which would be NO god. Agnostics are hopeful but not easily deceived.

Ive just checked on and according to the figures on there 44% of the population are atheist in United Kingdom.

Obviously more are converting to atheism here but maybe the same is happening in America but at a slower pace.

It seems like more Christians convert to Atheism (from what I can see). The problem is, we Atheists are usually responsible about the environment and don't tend to have a lot of children. So conversion isn't really adding to our numbers.

The very questions posed answers the questions.

You do not state Hindu, Buddist, Islamic, Judaic, and so forth.

That means that you are a creature of conditioned programming. Your belief systems, mores, values are all product of conditioning. This conditioning is life long and, among other forms and/or vehicles of conveyance, is an insiduous product of mind conditioning by the media apparatus being a tool of your Masters.

You do not think you are a programmed hamster but your question exposes you as such.

The original movie: "The Matrix," is an accurate representation of the world today.

You are not born an aetheist, Christain, or whatever. You are born as a blank. Since you were born you have been indocrinated, programmed. But all have been programmed and just don't know it. None think about it.

I hope that you realize that you have been revealed an absolute truth, and like Jesus said: "...the Truth will set you free...".

I would say that more Christians turn Atheist. It is a lot easier to disprove religion than it is to make people into believers.

I for one was raised Catholic and then Christian. I'm one confused SOB. I refuse to ever step foot in a church EVER again on my own free will. I am not an Atheist, I just think all organized religion is wrong. The collective masses scare me in the power that they have to persuade. I think the idea of an afterlife, and the bible as a GENERAL guideline on how people should behave and act. I can't stand people who take it literally, word for word.

I don't have any specific numbers in front of me, so this is pure speculation.

I think that more christians convert to atheism. At least in the united states. Christianity is the majority religion. More people are born into christian homes and opt to change their beliefs.

It could be about 50/50, but that’s only people I’ve really met in my life. According to polls it’s supposed to be Christians converting to Atheism.

But you can't tell, every born again claims to have been an atheist and I really just think they are using the term "atheist" incorectly.

i think there are more more Christians who convert to atheism... and the reason i believe is because well.. the bible tends to be an easy book to find flaws in... who wants to be part of something flawed?

i personally was once an atheists and at one point i went back to being catholic.. ive never met anyone who did the same.
this is of course from my experience.

There are more atheists who convert to Christianity but by far most of those are two or three year olds being brainwashed by their parents.
