How much should you tip the person who cuts your hair?

10-20% like eating out?? my husband tips $5 or $10 and his cut is only $18.Thats like 30-60% which I think is way to much? What do you think?

i usually tip (restaurants and hair dressers alike) around 5-10 bucks. depending on how good a job they did. it's usually around 5 bucks.

for a $18 cut $2 would be good. Sometimes the tip will have to go to the shampoo assistant . Those who don't tip don't wonder why they don't spend much time with you. Hair dressers make a percentage of the bill which is not much so they are depending on tips too.

You tip in larger bills, avoid singles. This is more attention getting and insures good service the next time. If you don't regularly get cuts or go to different locations, then the tip has no point. I commend him, thats how I usually tip, its not a percentage but rather what you think the quality of the workmanship is worth to you. If you feel they did a horrible job you are not required to tip at all.

I have always tipped $5. I never get my hair cut at a fancy place so it's usually $14-$20.

15-20% is a good guideline. My salon charges $45 for a shampoo & haircut so I tend to stay within this guideline.

$5 for an $18 haircut is about 35% which is generous but the price of the haircut is really reasonable. If I feel the price is really fair, I tend to tip a little more to "make up" for it.

You are supposed to tip in between 10-20% which would make the tip on an $18.00 haircut only $3.60 tipping $5.00 is okay if that is the only stylist you go to but $10.00 is ridiculous
