I made a copy DVD movie on my computer which i played on my DVD player and it showed on my TV no problem.
I then gave this DVD to a friend to see who tells me that all they get is a blue screen. They are in a different country, European as well, but they tell me that they get just a blue TV screen.
What is the problem here? We are both in Europe...please read message correctly!

Your friend may have a DVD player that does not support the particular DVD disc you sent him.
For example, if you recorded in DVD+R , his player may only support DVD-R.

check if your friend has the correct connection from the dvd player to the tv is correctly connected(red to red, white to white, yellow to yellow) and make sure your tv is set to channel 3 or the channel your cable or satelite connection is set to
