Homosexuality is not a disease and cannot be cured by anything. I am the parent of a gay son. When he told me he was gay, we had a long talk about this issue. He told me he had always known he was "different", but when he was a small child he did not know how to articulate it. He says just like I was born attracted to men, he was born the way he is. I have no reason to doubt him, and when I consider my own sexuality, I didn't "choose" to be heterosexual I just was.
That said, I do think some people explore these types of sexual acts, as well as other unusual ones. These are the people who go against nature and are perverted. THEY may be able to be helped by counseling cause they are really the "sicko's". There was a study done at Harvard Univeristy that indicates that there is some indication that the pituitary gland in gay males is smaller than in heterosexual males, so there is some evidence that homosexuality is caused by a developmental problem physically.
By the way, my son is a wonderful, sensitive and caring individual and extremely intelligent. I am very proud of him.

What kind of silly question is this? Of course homosexuality cannot be cured by counselling! It is not some problem of the brain but rather a personal feeling from inside that determines your sexual preference. To say that the Reverend was cured of homosexuality after counselling is like saying I'm cured of my chronic habit after the baggie is empty!! NOT!!

Thanks for joining us in the fight against LGBT bigotry, hatred and prejudice!
Yes, you are right, people who claim to be "christian" and then spew such hatred really are hypocrites.
Of course I agree that God makes people LGBT or straight, and both are just variations of sexual orientation, neither being more "right" or "moral" than the other. Yes, we are agreed that sexual orientation does not change over time, is not a "choice," and does not need to be "cured."
Which PFLAG chapter do you belong to?

Homosexuality cannot be cured; it is a natural part of life. However, hate and bigotry can force a person back into the closet.

Rev. Ted will "sin" again, in his mind if he can't pull off a tryst clandestinely. He will always be in internal conflict as he attempts to deny and suppress his personal nature through artificial means such as prayer.

Homosexuality can be cured by counseling just as much as heterosexuality can.

No, homosexuality isn't a mental issue that can be 'fixed'.
He simply emerged as a homosexual who went back into the closet.

That may be good religion, but it isn't good science. Homosexuality isn't a disease. So it can't be "cured". Behavior can be modified, but the fundamentals won't change.

Cognitive therapy can alter responses, but that three week intense "vacation" is garbage.
