The "Magi" were three wise men from the orient who presented Jesus (at his birth) with the gifts of "gold, frank incense (Frank was the name of the scent of the incense) and the oil of Myrrh. Myrrh was a perfumed scented oil that was placed on the head that also cooled people's body temperature (like their "ice" in the desert). All of the gifts were symbolic of Christ's birth, His sacrifice, and His death. The Magi were acknowledging that Jesus is the Savior and were mourning his future loss as a sign of respect. Frank incense was presented at funerals and the gold was the acknowledgement that He is our Divine King. The Magi presented the gifts as a sign of deep respect and not for superficial reasons.

Smyrna is the name of a town in Georgia.

The gifts had symbolic value. They were the sort of gifts you would bring a king.

Plus the Magi were men, women would have brought a casserole, a diaper bag, and cleaned up the stable. :D
