A typical Jehovah's Witness has knocked at thousands of doors, and discussed "the good news" with hundreds of householders. Certain neighborhoods are more notorious than others with regard to the effort to which householders go to embarrass or fluster Jehovah's Witness ministers. In almost every case, householders grossly underestimate the attempted intimidations which the typical Witness has already endured.
In certain localities, an experienced JW minister will have seen dozens of nude householders answer their doors. In few cases is there any chance that the Witness will run in terror from the door, never to return. Admittedly, this seems a possibility, especially if the individual householder's particular anatomy is sufficiently repulsive.
Instead, the experienced Witness will typically mention that the householder seems unprepared to welcome visitors, and the Witness will return at a more appropriate time.

A point should be made here that regardless of whether the person does it accidentally or intentionally, it is now considered a sex offense. One reason why you never see anyone celebrating the anniversary of Streaking. If a neighbor sees and complains, you could end up as a registered sex offender. We had a school teacher, taking a leak behind a bar, at 2 AM when there was no children around, charged as a sex offender for doing so.

For me personally, it is not a big deal, I have seen a naked body before. I can't imagine a woman coming to the door in the nude, that is just plain dangerous. What if it wasn't Jehovah's Witnesses at her door?? However, I would be interested to know about indecent exposure laws, because what you do in your own home is your business, but the instant you open your door does it become public...? With that in mind, the only time I would have a problem with the nudity issue is if an adult came to the door naked, and I had one of my children with me. Would it become a legal issue, since this adult had indecently exposed themselves to my child? Something to think about.

It has never happened to me personally. The closest has been when some men have come with boxers barely on.
I don't think it happens often. I don't really see it as offensive unless the persons intent is to be offensive.
My mother mean while once studied with a woman, who was introduced to her, by a young sister who called on the woman and was greeted naked. The woman in question was very uninhibited and saw nothing wrong with greeting another woman at the door nude. The girl who called on her, said she looked straight in her eyes, offered to call back later, and handed her a brochure. When she came back with my mother the woman had already read it thoroughly and had tons of questions. When she met my mother they were both so excited since they were both quite pregnant. (the girl was so nervous about talking to a naked person, she didn't even notice woman was pregnant) It was one of the best conversations my mom ever had. The woman studied and became a baptized Witness a few years later. Sadly my mom lost touch with her:( Hopefully we will find her again one day.
Meanwhile, I think that the first episode of Malcolm in the Middle was one of the most humorous depictions of nudity at the door.

I've actually had that happen to me and my sister.
This elderly lady came to the door nude and said that we could come in and have a seat until she finished dressing.
We told her we could come back at her convenience, but she said it would only take her a few minutes.
It was embarrassing, but not as much for her as it was for me. So she went to the back and put on some clothes and we waited in the front for her.
She apologized and accepted the literature we offered. My sister continues to call on this lady and they have a very productive study going.
And no, I wasn't offended. She was elderly and didn't want us to leave, so she just opened the door and explained her situation. No need to take offense. She was willing to listen to us!

why on earth would anyone answer the door in the nude? JW do not just walk into people's homes, they knock on the door or ring the bell.

It's never happened to me so I'm not sure what I would do.
I would probably offer to come back some other time and leave. I would indeed try to uphold my promise.
Either that or call the LDS Church and tell them I encountered somebody who asked about Mormons then give them the address. Just Joking I wouldn't do that.

I would never deliberately do that to a Jehovah's Witness or anyone else. I have too much respect for religious freedom and freedom of expression. And also because I'm a prude.

I went to a door and the man opened the door in his underwear. I just looked him in the eyes and handle him what we where giving out and left. what people do in there own homes does not bothers us. many of Jehovah Witnesses are married. just would not like it if one of our children went to the door with us.

It does happen, it doesn't offend us, but what does it say about the home owner??
If they do it intentionally, they may have a good laugh, but it's a lot funnier at our end.
