It is not Islamically acceptable to celebrate the Prophet's birthday. This has become a ritual for Muslim nations but it is incorrect.

I don't celebrate the Prophet's(PBUH*) b-day just as I don't celebrate any of the other prophets(PBUT*) b-days. I only celebrate Eid AL-Fitr and Eid AL-Adha.

Why would anyone celebrate his birthday? His was NOT a prophet. He was only a common man who learned from Judaism and Christianity that monotheism was the best way to group the different factions together under a single belief. He was the first radical Muslim. He tried to spread HIS word (Not GODS) peacefully but was unsuccessful overall so he had to turn to the sword to get it done.
