I think I may have anxiety. I just don't know what doctor to see.

You regular doctor can help by prescribing medication, but a psychiatrist would probably be better since they also provide counseling. Anxiety can often be overcome with therapy or even self-help, which most people prefer to taking medication. Clinics that specialize in anxiety disorders are fairly common, so you might be able to locate one nearby by looking in the Yellow Pages, asking your insurance provider, or searching on the web.

If you want to try the self-help route, the advice at this link is very helpful:

Start by talking to your primary physician. He can determine if you need to see a specialist. Most insurance companies require a referral to a specialist anyway. It could save a lot of money by just seeing your normal doctor - and he'll probably be able to help because anxiety is pretty common.

There are clinics who deal specifically with anxiety
You may want to see your regular doctor first because you don't want to assume its anxiety and not a health problem. And your health insurance may require a referral to a specialist.

well, if you just need someone to talk to about it, a psychiatrist, psychologist, or a licensed marriage and family counselor could help. If you need some kind of medication any doctor could prescribe it, but psychiatrists specialize in this area.

stay away from the family practitioner who will probably just push a medication. they will not help to treat it.
see a therapist/psychologist who can help you cope, and work on ways to cope with or overcome this anxiety
