the only place i can find it is in my start menu and i can't seem to delete it from there! help!

Try to go to the control panel and add or remove programs and look for the old version of aim. If you cant find it the new aim probably replaced the old one and the icon on the desktop or where ever there has not been deleted but if you do that try to run the old program and see if it starts and if a window that says cannot find file it has been uninstalled or was replaced with the new one. Try Control Panel>Settings>Add Remove Programs and looking for the old version?
Are you sure it wasn't replaced by the new version and the old icons were just not deleted (check this by trying to start the old version...)

Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add Remove. Find and click and then REMOVE it.
