Although I work at a power station, most of the engineers are mechanical. Mechanical engineering will allow you to get in almost any area. Even law or banking!

I'm a mechanical engineer so I'm very biased. The amount of jobs available in ME ranges from automotive, robotics, HVAC, aerospace, manufacturing, etc. I like to be able to physically see what I design. If I was an electrical engineer I don't think I'd get much satisfaction in that. Plus, there are a lot more Asians in EE ruining the curve. And in the end, all engineers probably make the same amount of money roughly, while EE's do tend to stat off more.
