I say we gather all the warmongers, the one's that say "We need to stay and fight in Iraq" and also the one's that say "Let's get Iran next", let's give them weapons, ship them to Iraq, bring the real troops home and let the warmongers do what they think can be done.

Hey Dirbe22, I recently left the military, I spent 1 year and a 1/2 in Iraq, I don't believe what I hear in the papers, I believe what I have seen first hand.

That also goes for the nameless person who said I shouldn't smoke dope, I am veteran too and a much more respectful one I might add.

Goes for atrava92 as well. What? Just because I don't support the war means I never served? I don't think so, it just means I can accept my mistakes and view reality from a different perspective.

Open4one, first if the army has enough volunteers than why is a congressman calling for the draft? Second, I don't believe in an illegal occupation, this is not a war. Third, I know quite well what I believe in and it doesn't have anything to do with Republicans or Democrats, maybe if you thought outside the two-party box you would realize that there are alot more opinions out there than ones voiced by politicians. "It seems likely" that you are just fool who can't think for himself.

I only agree a little...

I believe that those who won't stand behind our troops should feel free to stand in front of them.

I also believe that combat should be left to professionals. Should our troops be in Iraq? Probably not. Can we gracefully extricate ourselves from the Middle East? No. We're there, and we need to do the best job we can to kill terrorists, establish peace and democracy, and let the rest of the world know that we have big brass ones that clang.

That philosophy doesn't exactly work.

Only the part of the population that WANTS the military to be in Iraq goes to Iraq.

Only the part of the population that has children of school age pays for education.

Only the part of the population that needs welfare pays for welfare.

Only the part of the population that wants money spent on AIDS research pays for AIDS research.

Only the starving artists pay for the arts.

Everybody that wants medical treatment pays for their own.

Only people who want guns in our country have guns to protect themselves.

Only people who serve in the military get to vote.

....... hey, you know what? Maybe this philosophy could work...

We already have all the military volunteers we need without your witless appeal to reinstate slavery in this country. I suspect you're totally unaware of how your proposal calls for violations of the First and Fourteenth Amendments.

So what are you saying here? You don't believe in war, but you believe in letting people that do just go ahead and do it in your country's name? As ridiculous a philosophical contradiction as that is, it would be easy to believe that a liberal who calls for Free Speech while protesting a conservative speaker would hold such a belief.

And, given that the volunteers are already there and you SAY that you're all for giving them weapons, how about the bill that's about to be vetoed to cut just that support off from them? Are you then against the Democrat bill and WITH the President?

Or is it all much simpler than that, you're just a fool that doesn't know what he believes?

Sounds good to me. I'll be in Iraq either way. We could just let Iraq's crime bosses fight over control and let the country slip into chaos, and let Iran torture British soldiers, and put them on trial for no good reason.
