Raven975-what is it that you're on today? Is that a ludicrious answer or what? A pie is something you eat and cobbler is a shoe maker Raven975!
Most of the folks answered correctly in that cobbler in general does not use a bottom crust however, that isn't always true! Again, pies can either be one crust or two-for example apple pie VS pumpkin pie!
Cobbler depending on where you get it regionally can have anything from a sweet crumbly topping to a very bland plain doughy crust topping that is generally found in Europe.

cant just say pie has crust only on bottom, cuz some pies are made with crust on the top too... so.... difference would just be cobbler is more cobblery, and pie is more piey! Ok that was gay! No... I guess when you think bout it ... not too big of a diff besides the name? I like the pie is in a round dish comment though... even though you could make a square pie if you wanted, or a round cobbler... Really is there a difference??

A pie has crust on the bottom(some on top) and a cobbler has crust thru out.I love a good cobbler with ice cream on top. Then again who can argue with chocolate cream pie.?Good question.

A pie has at least a crust of some sort as a base. A cobbler may not have a base crust, but usually has a crust on the top or streusel topping.

i would say a pie has a top and bottom crust and a cobbler top crust only... but i always thought a pie was round and a cobbler square either way [pie or cobbler its all still very very good.....especially homemade like grandma used to make.....

Good question, gave you a star for it.........Pie is typically round and have a bottom and/or a top crust.........Pies also cover a gamut of both sweet and savory fillings, from custard pies, to fruit pies to no bake pies....Cobblers, "buckles" and crumbles are bottom crustless, and their topping ranges from sweetened biscuit type toppings to coffee cake-like toppings, a topping typically made of butter, oatmeal, brown sugar and spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, etc)Cobblers are also usually made exclusively out of fruits, and are sweet......Hope that helps identify the difference between the two.........Oh, and the thing that is similar with pie and cobbler, they're both yummy hot with ice cream...........

I would say that a pie has a crust on the bottom and a cobbler has no crust on the bottom...atleast I haven't had one with a crust on the bottom.

Cobbler is thinner, and does not have a crust, pies are more dense

I THINK IT'S THE CONSISTENCY OF THE THICKNESS OF THE INSIDE OF THE PIE OR COBBLER. THE PIE IS A THICKER CONSISTENCY.
