You are actually asking two different questions:
1. What is the purpose of life?
2. What is the meaning of life?
By way of example -- if I hold up an empty water balloon and ask you what it's purpose is, the most basic answer is 'water transportation via aerial mode.' That's all the purpose is -- it is a reason for existing. If it is sitting on a shelf in a store, it has that purpose, if it's in my hand filled and ready to go, it has that purpose.
Meaning, however, is something that is ascribed to an object. I fill such a balloon with water so that I can tag my mother during the next family reunion summer-fun party. That is now its meaning -- joy and playfulness. It did not have that meaning on the store shelf. There, at the store, its meaning was profit -- the owner of the store hoped someone would buy it and thus the owner would make profit off it.
So to go back to your questions -- what is the purpose of life? It has none. To have a purpose means that an intelligent being must have created it. Purpose is an intended direction, a best-suited direction, and life has no creator nor an intended direction. Life is inherantly purposeless.
What is the meaning of life? Because we are self-aware, even in acknowledging the purposelessness of life, we can ascribe a meaning to it. For many people, this meaning is little more than that they hope to live day by day. Some people make religion their meaning, others knowledge, others intentionally make hate or cruelty their meaning -- no one said all meaning has to be good. It just gives us a reason to wake up in the morning and defy our purposelessness.

I personally feel that everyone believes in something even if it isn't something which would not be considered mainstream spirituality or religion.
This is a really interesting question and I really look forward to reading some of the answers that will be typed onto this.
MY meaning of life..
We are part of something much bigger than we are individually. Life is all about making choices and decisions which are reflected as either right or wrong in the paths that become open to us as a result of our decisions. Life in general is interwoven and each person is part of everyone elses life whether we like to believe it or not. I know I am important here on this earth because I am here. I wouldn't be here if I wasn't important. You have to aspire to be the best person that you can be accepting both your faults and your good points, then you can go about LIVING which is what "your" life is all about.
I could go on about this for ages so I will cut it short here.
Why such a deep question anyway?
In love and light

Errr... No. I do believe in something, it just isn't your religion.
Life's meaning is not pre-determined and planned out; you are not a pawn in the games of the Gods, nor especially singled out to be an avatar or martyr. You must find your own destiny and meaning; you must create it. You have something -- life, the here-now, the present -- and must make the best out of it. You must answer why you are here.
In my opinion, I feel that the goal of life is simple. It is to thrive and be happy. None of us had a "choice" in whether or not we were born, but now that we are alive we have the power to either enjoy it or end it. If you find yourself in a situation, you should strive to make the best of it. Increase your happiness. Have fun with things. If you're going to be alive anyways, you might as well have a good time while you're at it.
The purpose of life is to give life a purpose; the goal of life is to enjoy it.

I did feel like a wasted drop in the ocean until my daughter was born 2 1/2 years ago. She is the meaning of my life and in all respects the reason to our own existence. Survival.

God didn't put us here just to indulge ourselves or have a good time (at least in the way some probably mean it). God put us here for a purpose—and that purpose is to live for Him and experience the joy of His presence every day.
The problem is, God wants to be at the center of our lives‐but so do we. We want to run our own lives and be free to do anything we please because we think that must be the path to happiness. But when we live only for ourselves, we find it doesn't bring us happiness after all. In fact, a life of self-indulgence only leads to emptiness. The Bible warns, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death" (Proverbs 14:12).
But God has another way for us—His way! It alone is the way of peace, and it alone will bring us true happiness. Not only that, but His path alone will lead us to heaven. What is that way? It is the way of the cross—Christ's cross. On the cross Christ took away all our sins and selfishness, and now He wants to come into our lives and replace them with His love.
Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10). Turn to Christ today and ask Him to come into your life. Then ask Him to begin changing you from within—and He will, as you yield your life to Him and allow His Word, the Bible, to shape your life every day.

The meaning of life is defined by the life lived. Meaning, life can be as grand as one want it to be or a total waste of time. We are given the choice and no one, including God has the right to interfere with the selection a person has made for their life.

I have a purpose in life and that is to grow closer to Jesus and bring people to him.
My existance is very important and i'm not boastful about that. I know God cares for every one of us and life is only wasteful if we choose to be wastful.

I have very strong beliefs. I came here to learn and educate my soul. If I can improve the life of one person during my life than I have accomplished something big.
