If you work outside the US, you MIGHT be able to exclude some or all of your overseas earned income from US taxes. You will be liable for local taxes where you actually work unless you are subject to special tax treaty status.

Get a copy of IRS Pub 54 from the IRS website for complete details on overseas income for US citizens and residents.

If you are employed outside your home country (I am assuming you are a U.S. citizen) your first $84K plus housing expenses are exempt from income tax...over that, ante up.
