i wouldnt because the kittens can come out with deformities. Would you mate with your brother? It just like human incest. They come out retarded.

It's safe, as well as hamful at the same time. I mean it wont cause the cat a complicated pregnancy. The kittens on the other side might experience a less healthy life.In the rare breeds, even pure breeds there has been a lot of inner breeding, wich is great for the breeder, however horrible for the offspring(this is also true with the ordinary domestic cat). The genetic problems are passed on trough the genes, and as the sibling breeding continues we end up seeing this problems becoming fequent (bad hips, severe alergies, cancer, bad teeth, ect.). Overall I wouldnt recoment breeding siblings. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me. :)

They will mate if unneutered but it is not safe.
Assuming they have the same parents(and their mother didn't mate with multiple males so they have different dads)they will share 75% of their genetic code and the odds of kittens being born with terrible defects or born dead are very high.
Besides there are already more kittens needing homes than there are homes available so don't breed!
Spay her or neuter him or best of all do both.

If there is a problem in the genes it can be magnified many fold by siblings breeding with each other.
That and it is simply contrary to the laws of nature. Animals with restricted gene pools are referred to as having a "bottleneck" and the population can be wiped out in the worse case scenario.
Best case scenario: don't mate any cats, period. There are so many -- I repeat so many -- cats at local shelters. Give them a home and spay and neuter them ASAP.

Yes it is safe to do it, they do it in the wild, they don't know who they are related to. Breeders of pedigree cats will mate the father to the daughter as well.
Personally I don't do it. Just because I don't think it's necessary. I always make sure my cats are not related when I breed them and when I buy in another cat I always check the pedigree papers to make sure the cats haven't shared Grandparents either.
There are lots of breeders who do this to preserve a certain line in their breeding stock, but I assume we are talking about moggies here and it is not recommended to do it just so you can make some money.

If you are not quick enough with precautions cats will mate with the same litter, IE brother and sister. They don't think anything of it! Yuk! I have never heard of deformities happening because of this but best to play safe, anyhow just because they are same family isn't that enough not to want it to happen!!? EERR!!

First off - you need to spay and neuter. The cat population is crazy out of control and you don't need to contribute to it.
Second - you should NEVER mate siblings together. All sorts of genetic problems and/or deformities can happen.

No one ever know if it's safe to inbreed animals. I saw thin program on KNME and they were inbreeding foxes over a year or so they started to develop different fur patterns and they became less like wild animals but like domestic animals. I wouldn't inbreed my cat.

I think you can but sometimes the kittens are born with disease. When my sibling cats mated one of their kittens was born dead and another one had permanent constipation.

I use to have several cats and kittens, but now i only have two females(spayed), and a male. I'm sure he mated with a his mother once and there were no deformities in the kittens. I'm not a professional if you really want to know i would check with your local vet.
