I'm running a 10k tomorrow and tonight I'm going with my cousin to get a tattoo. I heard that if I get a tattoo before my race, I will feel a lot of pain in that area while I am running. Is this true?

Its a definite possibilty. I have 6 tattoos. 4 small ones and two large pieces one on my lower back and one on my upper back.

Right after getting tattooed and the day after as well. I felt like I had gotten my butt kicked. I felt like I had been beat up. It depends on how long you are getting tattoed for and how big it is. If your tattoo will take an hour or more to do... You are probably going to have some pain and definitely some discomfort tomorrow.

I would wait to get your tattoo after the race. Go with your cousin tonight and experience the event with her so that you may be more prepared.

Good Luck! ;-)

Remember think about what you are planning to get tattoed. Try to pick something that you know you will love for as long as you live because its on there forever. Try not to get things that are trendy or that you may not appreciate 5 or ten years from now.

Message me with any more questions.

The sweat will make it itchy, it may be painful, I have never ran a marathon after getting one, but I do know it will itch like crazy from the sweat. Put some a&d ointment or tattoo goo on it before the race that will help a lot. GL on the tatt and the race!

If it's in a place where the skin will be moving around it will be very painful, and if sweat drips onto it it will hurt too. I'd put off the tattoo until after the race.

Ouch. After some of my tattoos, the area was sore for days and that was with little movement and exercise. The one on my leg going from calf to thigh made it painful to walk!

Put off the tattoo, trust me...you'll be happy you did.

i guess it depends on how big of a tattoo you get and where but i wouldn't do it. every time i get a tattoo i am sore for atleast three days but usually six. and the day after is brutal. all of my muscles are sore and tense and i feel like i got beat up. BUT i get big tattoos so maybe it's just because of that. i think you should do your tattoo after the race.

I would wait until after the race to get your tattoo...you're going to be sweating and gettting potential dirt into your tattoo which is still a fresh wound.

umm, idon' tknow for sure, but i think you will because running hurts anywayz no matter how in shape you are, and tattoos hurt very bad also, the area would be sore weather you are running or not. so i would wait on the tatto for a while, sorry.

I know from personal experience that sweat can cause skin irritation on a healing tattoo.

if u are smart u will wait to get your tat until after the race. u will be sweating and that will make the tat itch and u will want to scratch it and u can't. also it will get dirt in it and cause an infection. do yourself a favor and wait.
