Take a scale and scrub it hard over your palm. Now, bring it near to your scalp-hair. It will stick to them. Wow! You have created electricity!!!

Any hydroelectric generator is converting mechanical power to electricity. Hoover dam is one example. All coal, oil and gas fired power plants are converting heat to mechanical power with the use of a steam engine and then the mechanical power is converted to electricity in a generator. The same in nuclear plants. The same with wind turbines. In fact about the only power generation that has no mechanical source is solar panels.
