It certainly depends upon what offense has been committed.

The laws are essentially broken into the following categories:

~ Violations - normally a fine

~ Misdemeanors - normally a fine, court costs, and up to a maximum of one year in jail.

~ Felonies - normally a fine, court costs and a MINIMUM of one year and a day up to life in jail.

Best wishes.

It would all depend on the crime. If the violator murdered someone then the penalties would be more harsh than say they stole a C.D. from a store. It is impossible to answer your question without more details.

Every area has their own particular laws, and penalties. Most of them are fairly standard. You could try a library, and check out the law books, or go to a law library. You could also visit City Hall. All this information is a matter of public record, and is available to anyone.
