You could download and install Media Player Classic, it supports a wider array of video file types than the players you listed.

The best way is to make sure which format of video file you got. Right click on video it will open Property click on it and look at Type/Kind of file: FLV/SWF or WAV, or whatever. When you will know its kind it will be easy to decide if you have to download codic or not.
Do you have Macro media flash installed on you PC?

If you like tell me the type of video file or send me nihon94@yahoo.com

There is an article at;

http://www.goitexpert.com/entry.cfm?entry=Understanding-Codecs-and-Getting-Downloaded-Video-Files-to-Play-with-Sound-and-Video

That explains what the problem is, what to do, where to find the software etc.

Video files basically have "drivers" which interpret the compression of the video files. Without the proper driver to interpret the compression, then the file won't play properly.
