I have an allergy medication that lasts for 24 hours (Singulair), and on the bottle it says to take one pill in the evening. Does it really matter when I take it as long as I take it at the same time every day?

When a pharmaceutical company tests the drug they look to see if the medication is more effective if taken when the body is active or when resting. Also if the medication cause drowsiness they will say take in the evening. Always follow the directions and next time you go to the pharmacy, ask the pharmacist himself, Singulair is a pretty common med so he may be able to give you the scoop.

The prescribing information for Singulair doesn't say why, but it does say to take in the evening. When a particular time of day is specified for taking medications, it's generally because that's how they worked best in clinical trials. Hope this helps.

That is a very good question to ask you prescribing doctor. When it comes to allergy medications, I perfer to take them in the morning because they keep me awake if I take them at night.

You really should follow all prescriptions as they are written on the bottle, but if it hasn't affected you in a negative way, keep taking it the way you have been.

It could make a difference, if it makes you drowsy. Evening would be best in that case.

Evenings are best, your body processes it better.
