Well, the easy answer is "whatever color makes you feel comfortable."
I personally would probably go for a pale peach, cream, or butter color to go with the maroon and give the room warmth and pop. However, if that's not your style, consider a light cool grey. This will keep the room soothing without darkening it too much. Another alternative is a light cool green. This will give the room pop, but will keep the overall tone cooler.
To play around with color a little, try www.behr.com. Choose a color that most closely matches your comforter, then mess around with the other colors and palettes, and see what you think looks best with the color of your comforter.

I would go with an almond shade, you know a warm tannish beige. You could even go a little darker with one of the brown/gold/green Tuscan colors. With maroon, I would stick with a color that has a warm hue rather than cool, with that in mind any color that you like would work.
How about going to Home Depot or a paint store and bringing home lots of paint chips (sample cards), lay them around your room and see what jumps out at you.

there is an excellent color by Ralph Lauren called Kew Place, it is a very classy color and will look good with any accents. Check the paint cards in home depot for this color.

A warm beige, tan, or light brown would work well, as maroon is a 'warm' color and you want to keep it in the same family. You could maybe do a light gold if you have other gold accents in the room.

Why don't you paint it a nice shade of grey? There are many beautiful shades that will look great with maroon. It has a very classy look when pulled together. I would go with somthing sort of a slate grey. Good luck!

A color that expresses your inner personality. If you are hyper pick loud colors, if you're mellow maybe pick yellow (lol),
if you're cool pick more deep colors, if you are jazzy pick more brights, if you're moody pick a mixture of blues, and purples.
