I don't think $803 a week( Beach front) for a place that sleeps 6 is high at all. You figure thats only a little more than a $100 a day. Tell dad to relax, it is a vacation. A motel 6 would cost you $60 a day and wouldn't be on the beach...

I missed that you want Florida, but I do think Gulf shores is in Alabama. So Maybe the panhandle of Florida will work.
Winter season is Nov. 1st to Late April, this will be the highest priced time of the year to come to Florida Beaches.
Prices drop usually by May First, when the winter people have gone home and spring breakers are back in school.
Finding an out of the way location should help bring the prices down.
There is a fabulous state Park/Camp grounds. No people do not stay in tents, they are in motor homes.
It is called Topsail Preserve State Park, at the edge of Sandestin, Florida on state road 98 between Panama City and Pensacola.
It has what is called park models. They are like new double wides. It is a little walk to fabulous white beaches and they have a tram to ride to and from the beach also. It is within a mile or two of groceries and shopping. They even have a camp laundromat and maybe a pool, but I do not know that for sure, because it is right at the gulf.
It is the most beautiful State Camp ground I have ever seen it was private, paved streets and lovely to see. The state bought it.
Google State Parks for Florida to find it. Good Luck.

You can't stay right on the beach on the gulf coast for $300 a week in a place that sleeps 6. There is an RV park near Grayton Beach near Panama city, if you have an RV.

Do you really need a condo. The Island House Hotel has suites at a very reasonable prices. I stayed there last October and thought it pretty nice for the price and it's right on the beach as well.

come much farther south on the gulf coast!
the water is still too cold that far north!
gulf temp here in Naples Fla is still only in low 70s ! And we're as far south as you can go b4 you have to turn left and go to Miami !!!
So, try clearwater beach usually very reasonably esp this time of year with snowbirds all heading north.
The late spring thru summer is fla's low season and things get cheaper as the summer wears on due to high heat and esp. high humidity !!!s But Clearwater has beautiful beaches, has great nightlife in Tampa's Ybor City (pronounced: E - bore), and has always had reasonable prices.

I've tried a number of sites for this, like vacationrentals.com. If you can get a beachfront for $800 for a week, jump on it! I've seen them in the $1,000- $2,000 range. Better give your folks the reality check. That's just the nature of the business now.
