The support of a priesthood is an abuse in itself. The abuse you speak of is just the result of something ungodly to begin with..

I don't think so...because it also gives money to the poor and charities.

I think morallity is seperate from the law. If a priest did something illegal and the case gets settled, then it's over as far as the government is concerned.

However, morally, it doesn't matter. They will pay for those sins or be forgiven for them. It has nothing to do with money or court or laws. It doesn't matter where the money came from or who gave it..because the punishment for those sins is not metted out here on earth. Therefore, the trespasser did not get off "scot free" just because someone gave them money. Sins of the individual have nothing to do with the money or the laws of the institution in my opinion.

Does that make any sense? If you give someone money, you did good. If they use the money for something bad...it means they are bad, not you. Still, getting a priest off of a court case is not bad, because conviction in court is not the punishment for sin. Man made law breaking=man made punishment. Sin=God's territory, not courts.

I think it's absolutely immoral. Why do they have to settle if they did nothing wrong? Settling these cases is a clear admission of guilt. How could anyone with children even consider supporting such an institution? Would these same church goers send money directly to convicted pedophile who are not priests????

Biblicaly I am not sure if it is a sin. I know we are all to be forgiven for our sins, but in this case I dont think the lord meant that type of sin.

Jesus did away with the Physical Church, He said my Kingdom is not of this world.(The Promised Land) Those who worship the Father must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Well that certainly is not where God wants it to go. He would have it feeding the poor or going for outreach to non-believers. I would find an organization that uses its monies for positive use like Samaritan's Purse.
