Do you know what sin is? Just cause you dont believe in God does not mean you have never sinned. Sin is a trangression of the law. Have you ever lied? Have you ever taken something that was not yours? Cheated on a test? While driving have you gone faster then the speed limit? Destroyed someones property? Think about it. Have you ever sinned?

They do not believe in sin either. You need to ask if they have ever done anything wrong. Do not expect anyone to be honest with you, for some atheist, not believing in God is just a means of avoiding decent behavior, particularly towards others. Oh they will say its not true, but we know it is. Calling people names, putting down their beliefs, continually day after day abusing every word they say, making fun of the God they believe in....not decent behavior.

Funny thing is, they claim they do not need God to be moral and ethical...and for some its true...but for others, they really have no idea what moral or ethical is, so I guess...they really do need someone to set some standards for decent behavior.

Actually sin usually thought of as a trangression against God. If they have the mistaken belief that there is no God, then they can not sin. Sin is not breaking the law or a rule. Google the word and you will see it is not used that way in common everyday English.

From Dictionary.com:
sin
–noun
1. transgression of divine law: the sin of Adam.

Sin is defined as a ttransgression of DIVINE law, not the laws of man. If someone does not believe in the divine, then he really isn't capable of sinning, since it is impossible to break laws that don't exist. So, therefore, I have never sinned. I have gone faster than the speed limit, but that isn't a sin, it's a moving violation. You don't go to hell for that, you get a ticket and a point or two on your license. The points aren't even eternal, they come off after 5 years.

I'm afraid that your argument is flawed.

Sin actually comes from a Hebrew word which carries the notion of missing a mark (like in archery). The idea is that we miss the mark of perfection and are therefore sinners. Whether or not 1 believes in God has no bearing on his existence.
4 argument's sake, however, we will speak as if God does not exist. Does this make it right 2 do whatever you please? Why do you even have a conscience???

Here's a point some are missing. If God exists, then God exists whether we believe or not. Also, believing in God doesn't make God exist. Assuming God's existance, it is possible to sin against God without knowing or believing. And the opposite is true. If God does not exist, it is impossible to sin against Him.
You have to decide- if it's true only if you believe it, or is it true no matter what.

Wow. You really...wow. So every time a Christian cuts down a forest, they're committing an offense against the Goddess and the God by destroying His and Her creations. Does that mean they agree they will be held accountable by the Goddess and the God and that their karma and future lives will be impacted as a result? Or, because they do not believe that the trees are a direct manifestation of the Goddess and the God, and therefore are not sacred, are they freed from all potential karmic retribution for cutting down sacred plants? Think about THAT.

You seem to be confusing sinning with illegality. Sinning is a religious concept. Legality is a social concept.

There are many things that are legal that are considered sin by some religions (e.g. abortion, masturbation). There are some things that are illegal that are not sins (The bible doesn't have much to say about going 60 in a 55 mph zone)

I'm a non-believer and sure, I've sinned. I'm not perfect, but I try to be a good person and treat people the way I would want to be treated. Some of the non-believers you are speaking of might be referring to the "original sin", the whole adam/eve/forbiddin fruit sin which subsequently plunged all of mankind into a cesspool from which Jesus delivered us from. As a Christian, you are taught to believe that you are a sinner from the moment you are born. As a non-believer, this strikes me as absurd.

sin - noun, verb, sinned, sin·ning. –noun
1. transgression of divine law: the sin of Adam.

2. any act regarded as such a transgression, esp. a willful or deliberate violation of some religious or moral principle.

Speeding is not a sin.

Sin is not a transgression against law; it is a transgression against a religious law. If you don't believe those religious laws are real, then you don't believe in sin and therefore don't believe you can have committed one.

Nobody is perfect and yes i have done things I wish i wouldn't have in terms of I"ve made mistakes. Nothing serious though. There is no such thing as "sin" unless you are religious and believe in that stuff. I know right from wrong without having to follow a book.
