It will work for a temporary fix but needs KMR. You can also purchase goat's milk from the grocery store that will work too.
I am so sorry to hear about the momma kitty and was wondering how in the world did she drown for they are afraid of the water and would not get near it. Did someone drown her?

You may want to call your vet, I am not sure that the cultures in the formula would not make tha kitten sick. The kitten formula is about 6$ for a can of the powder mix. It is called KLM and has an orange tabby kitten on the front. I would def. call the vet and find out about the baby formula, and remember to feed every 2-3 hours, and you will have to bathroom the kitten also. The easiest way to do this is to stick the kitten's bottom under warm running water, and rub very fast back and forth to get the kitty to urinate, and also deficate. You will need to bathroom every time you feed. In a few weeks when kitty's eyes open start bathrooming over a litter box, and wipe the paws in it to cover, this will get them started on litter training as well. GL and hope kitty does okay!

Hartz Kitten milk at walmart and nurser bottles are not real expensive, you will have to bottle feed them while they are small every 2-3hrs through the day until their eyes open while you are awake and then keep them buy your bed if they wake up through the night you are the new Mom feed them.
If you have to use a baby formula you will have to add Kayro Syrup to the formula probably a tablespoon to a 8 oz mixture. It must be kept fresh and feed it warm but not hot. Call a local vet office and tell them you are having to bottle feed and ask if they can tell you a formula to use. Cat's are very sensitive and require a sweeter formula that a Human. Good luck.

Infant formula is too rich for kittens. It MUST be watered down. It will give them disentary if not. Try using canned milk (condensed milk) and adding a tad of water to it. You can also try diluting either turkey or veal baby meats. They water down fairly easy. Also use the generic brand of pedialyte....it will help prevent dehydration.

Kittens at 5 days old MUST be fed every 2 hours. Because they are being syringed, not all the milk goes in, so the constant feedings are imperative. They don't need a LOT at one time, but they do need frequent feedins. Also, be careful not to let them aspirate the fluid. It will kill them.

Have you contacted your local shelter and asked them for KM? They will often times donate it to a person who is fostering kittens. It is worth a call to them.

You also need to watch for distension in the tummies. Mother cats take care of all the body functions of their kittens through constant stimulation. . You will need to do that now. You have to make sure they are having bowel and bladder movements. This often involves stimulating the area around the bladder and anus. If you don't get the urine out of them, they can become septic. So PLEASE watch for bloating. You can lightly compress the stomachs to get things moving. You also need to keep their little noses free of any mucous discharges.

Very best of luck to you.

No..At the pet store they now sell kitten milk and that is used for kittens that where their mothers left them. Check your pet store. How did the mother cat drown in the pool. It does not sound right. You can get the milk at the store and feed them with an eye dropper.

No kitten formula is best cause it will give all the nutrients the kittens need. you can buy kitten formula at Wal-mart or at any pet store regualr baby formula doesn;'t have all the nutrients that a kitten would need but when ever in doubt please contact your local vet. The will be able to answer any questions & concerns you may have.

No. Human infants and kittens have different nutritional needs, so the formulas for both would be different. I forget the exact ingrediants, but you can make kitten milk replacers (KMR) from scratch. http://www.hdw-inc.com/glop.htm

Not to be harsh or anything, though, but if you can't afford to buy the very thing that is required for keeping the kittens alive, do you really think you should keep them?
