For some, a primate is a primate.

Weren't you just saying a few questions ago that you were going to ditch theistic religion and go for atheism? So what gives? You cannot be an atheist and believe in theistic creation, that automatically makes you theist again.
Anyway, disregarding that.. you really need to look at what the descent of man really says and not what creation propagandists say it says. Basically, all primates - that includes monkeys, apes, humans, lemurs and a few others - are descended from the same non-extinct species.
The similarity in all primates such as the body structure, specifically opposable thumbs, as well as chromosome patterns all show that whatever ancestral species this was WAS a primate. The fact that we are different to the other primates is due to the different paths evolution generates due to changes in climate and seperation of groups of the same species (when the same species is split into two groups by geography they develop in different ways - a good though limited example is different races in human).
I hope this clears some things up with you and that you have a mind open enough to research these things on your own now.

We probably come from apes we had a common ancestor with the great apes Chimps Arranges and Gorillas. But we did not come from them. We probably had ancestors who had tails farther down the line. Even farther back we had common ancestors with worms. We had common ancestors with every species of life on Earth at one time. But our closest known relative to the human species is the chimp.

Lol. I know. But you ought to listen to this one message I got it was hilarious.
"If you are the result of billions of years of evolution like for example if a monkey came from a rock and you came from a monkey, then why is stuff like that not happening today and why are things reproducing after themselves what they are. Example, monkey produces monkey, human produces human, tree produces tree. Why isn't it tree produces human or something like that? If evolution was real I believe that would still be going on in the same way today. Even if whatever came from whatever got switched up."
A monkey came from a rock? LMAO. You know were they get these malformed ideas about evolution don't you? Creationist propaganda sites and chick tracks.

We share common ancestor with apes. Due to the bad system of public schools in the USA, many people over there did not have the chance to get a proper education and lack the knowledge to understand the work of C. Darwin and other biologists. Most of those bible thumpers don't even understand what a scientific theory is... It's pitifully and pathetic.

My lips and toenails are more like a monkey than an ape, so I can see the confusion it causes folks.
But my great grandad was part duck, so I actually have webbed feet and tiny little down feather under my belt.
About eating bugs -- this is better than being eaten by bugs, right? So if the mosquito bites, bite the mosquito back?

Egads. The theory of evolution posits that humans and primates shared a common ancestor. Not that we "came from monkeys (or apes)". Big difference.

Believing u came from an ape doesn't give you much worth in life. If u believe in an ultimate being or power that made u and loves u, than u feel like u r worth something at least to him. He calls us to him,hes that longing and yearning in our hearts to find out how the earth came to be in the first place, except people always go searching for answers in the wrong place. It may seem too unscientific to believe that God made the universe and everything in it, but is everything logical and scientific? Is love scientific? Is there anything that we completely understand? There will always be the question of where we came from, but the question is, are u searching in the right place? 'Cause your not going to find the answer in science or logistics, the answer in in love, hope and faith, things we don't completely understand. I have no doubt that if u don't find God, he'll find u.

Creationists float that idea. Remember the "Monkey Trial" in Scopes. Well that was first published by a man who was the son in law of the local pastor. If there is no evolution there would never be anything new. This scares fundamentalists. "Monkey see monkey do, monkey will destroy you."

We all had a common ancestor.
They were ape-LIKE, but not modern apes.

Actually, we didn't come from the current family of apes either. We most likely both came from some common ancestor.
