Beware of internet pharmacies!!!! Sure they are cheap..question is where do they get their drugs from??? Most drug companies do NOT sell their products to anyone other then a licensed vet. Also most drug companies will NOT guarantee ANY of their products that are sold by an online pharmacy or catalog.
Believe it or not the drugs a vet sells to clients isn't marked up as much as people think. (compared to the internet maybe) vets buy the drugs just like you do..the difference is they buy them directly from the drug company. They get the company guarantee to pass on to clients, they know how they were stored, handled, shipped...they know they were administered correctly and in the proper dosage.

I will tell you as someone in the field for over 30 years I would NOT buy ANY med online or from a catalog to give ot my pets. Knowing all that I know and seeing what i have seen I don't think it is worth the risk to my pets health and life just to try to save $$$$.

Because a lot of times you need meds right on the spot and they can charge more cause you have to pay it! You are correct prices on the internet are a lot better! My dog had surgery last year on both knees and buying the meds online saved me quite a bit of money! Wish I had researched it before the first surgery though and not spent so much buying stuff from the vet every week!

Yeah I know, its much better to go on sites such as Pet Meds and get a prescription from the vet. Usually people just do it at the vet because of the convenience.

I'm afraid that its because people care enough about their pets to initially take them to the vets, then the vets know that the animals owner wont grumble and gripe about paying for the prescription drugs if its going to make their beloved pet better

You are paying for the time and expertise of the vet, not just the costs of the drugs.
You would not expect a washer repair man to come to your house and only charge for the parts.
If people take on pets, they should realise that they will inccure costs and be willing to do so.

Good question. Maybe it is to discourage those people who want the Rx, but use it to purchase drugs for themself.

..the drugs you get from the vet are the real thing...drugs over the net are suspect...Id pay a vet anytime...the net is a breeding ground for rip off suspect harmful fake drugs...but you decide.........

Do you think that this is pet medicine specific? All medicine, even yours, have ridiculous mark ups. But good for you for shopping around.

Unfortunately, because they can. They know people care about their pets, and will end up paying for it, to help their pets.
