I don;t think they can, but a friend of mine says that a person that we know to be a Free Mason is gay? Is that possible? I thought it was against their beliefs.

The only requirements are:
1- Must be male.
2- Must be 18 or older.
3- Must profess belief in God (religion doesn't matter)
4- Must be of good character.
So theoretically, the answer is yes. Although I have heard that they have a rigorous selection process and if there is anything that EVEN ONE member does not like about you, then you are not selected.

Generally speaking, the formal statement of the Council (the "Gay Agenda") doesn't forbid membership of other groups. I personally know several Gays who are handy with a stoneworking hammer and chisel.

As the name of the Lodge implies, it is Free. If a Mason is Free, then he can be whatever he wants to be. If a member is not Free to be whatever he wants to be, then the Lodge should change its name to something other than Free Mason.
If you believe that homosexualtiy is nature and not nurture, then no one has power, or authority, to change things.

The same for religious brotherhoods and occupations which exclude women!
I know free masons do not exclude women, but they are not very much welcome.
