I have the same problem. I am marrying the cutest, hottest brother of 5 who is now the last one to get married, and his mother has never accepted me. To her no girl would be perfect enough for her son. All the other brothers wives were not accepted either for YEARS. Because she in her mind, is the ONLY woman for her sons! Just be polite but you don't have to get personal, and you certainly don't have to like them back, only be mature and civil. I also limit my time that I spend with his family because they can be negative and emotionally abusive. I don't put up with it by not coming around because they need to learn that when they treat someone bad, people don't want to be in their company! It's kind of like the silence says more than words kind of thing. Just treat your man well, if they see he is happy, they will eventually learn to accept his happiness is more important than anything!

You just love him unconditionally....whether his family loves you or not! This should bother him more than it does you!! It doesn't sound like they had a chance to get to know you...or they are basing the opinions on what they've heard...not what they know! He needs to be the one discussing this with them and telling them that he loves you and that they need to trust that they raised a son with a level head on his shoulders with the capability of choosing a great mate! I wouldn't worry about it!

It depends on his behavior. Does he defend you to his family? Does he allow them to verbally abuse you (even if only to him) without defending you? If does defend you, great, it doesn't matter what his family thinks. If he doesn't defend you I'd think long and hard about your relationship, do you want to spend the rest of your life putting up with their abuse? You can tell how much he values you by whether or not he defends you to his family, he doesn't have to make them like you, but he can make them be civil and he can get them to refrain from slandering you (at least to him).

That can be rough. You will just have to put up with it and try to not let them get you down. If they become unbearable, just tell your man in a very gentle way that they are really hurting you and he should let them know that they are treating you unfairly. If they love their son, they will have to learn to accept you.

oh man. i had this happen to me too. in my situation, they hated me cuz I was Italian. He came from a very German family, and they used to call me Katie Buttafuco (ie joey buttafuco) and it was really embarassing and mean. to be honest, you have to ask yourself WHY they dont like you. If its because of something you can't change (ie my italian-ness) or if its because of something you can (perhaps expressing yourself more politely, dressing more conservatively). If you can change to make them like you, do it for the sake of your relationship... If you can't, well then find it in your heart to accept the way things are and move on from there.

if your boyfriend loves you there's nothing to worry about it, your not going to marry his family anyway.take control of your boyfriend first before you take control of the family,let him feel she needs you always..once you took control over everybody in the family, why not try taking control over the world.hahaha just kiddin

well I went with this guy for 6 months and his mom never liked me! But hey if you ove him and he loves you it doesnt matter what they think , if they love him thet will LEARN to like you!

show them how lucky your boyfriend for having you and prove to them that their son is taken care of.
if still they don't like you..heck..you're not gonna live with them and it's their son you love.
