When are you people ever going to learn ?

"Supporting out troops" - Bushspeak for letting me kill as many of them as possible and no-one had better say a word, because if you're not "with us, you're against us".

The questioner refers to 'eating crow', and the chorus starts off with the usual media-spun drivel, have you all forgotten Vietnam ? Or are you too young to remember ?

The Vietnam war ended over 30 years ago, over 70,000 US servicemen lost their lives, and upwards of half a million were injured. All for nothing, not one single 'gain' was made out of that fiasco.

When the troops came home, the American public, already embarrassed by the revelations of massacre and torture of Vietnamese people, shunned them. No 'Ticker Tape' parades for these boys. As a result thousands of angry, disillusioned and broken people were never able to re-insert themselves into 'normal' society. Thousands ended permanently disabled, either physically, mentally, or both.

The VA ( Veterans Administration ) is still struggling ( with hopelessly inadequate funding ) to deal with the problems of these abandoned and lost souls. Those souls are still eating crow, although I doubt it's hot, long gone stone cold I would guess.

In case you had also forgotten, the commencement of aggressive warfare is a 'War Crime' under International Law. The Secretary General of the United Nations has expressed the official legal view frequently, the Iraq 'war' is, and has been since the outset, illegal.

When the US and the UK invaded Iraq they were obliging their own servicemen to break the law, and criminalise themselves, which, by the way, is no excuse at some later war crimes trial, like Nuremburg. At that time it was established that "I was only following orders" was not an acceptable excuse.

Support the troops ???

I'd say that trying to get them out of this inferno alive and unharmed was more like supporting them.

The media spin set up by BushCo. is that if Congress denies funds then that will mean that the US forces have to remain in Iraq with inadequate material support.

Bullsh*t ! The intent of the Congress in denying further funding is clear.

Get the troops out of Iraq now !

It's time to learn to think for yourselves again, and not just keep parrotting the latest sound bites from 1,600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Why? Why do you think that we will fail? Have you been to Iraq? Or do you just get your information from the news? Have you seen first hand the many great things that we have done over there? We took Saddam down, who was the equivalent of Hitler. We did in fact discover WMD. How can you call this a failure?
Because we lost lives? This is a war. I'm sure that you play war on your computer...or playstation...people die. War isn't a pretend game that you play at home. This is real life. And trust me on this one.....these men and women wouldn't sign up for the military if they were not prepared to go to war. They are not stupid. The men and women of our military are very smart indeed!!!!

Why would the troops eat crow? They did the job assigned to them. If the USA fails in Iraq it will be because of politicians that don't know the first thing about strategy deciding how to fight the war.

Regardless of the outcome in the middle east, the troops are doing a phenomenal job over there. They are doing their job to the best of their ability, and to say they will "come home to eat crow" is extremely saddening. These men and women enlisted to protect the rights of people like you - to protect your right to say what you want. They don't have to like or agree with it, but they do it. And ungrateful people here at home who don't support them makes it even harder for them to do their job. Do you really think a person would choose to spend time away from their families and safety at home for a violent place where their very lives are on the line every single day? Do you think that the kind and giving people who are over there volunteering their "off" time for the children of the area really want to come home to someone like you and your words of condemnation?

Nah, the troops won't "eat crow". They didn't start the war.. politicians did. If there's a pull out, they're not to blame for that either... that will also be politicians.

You know, there ARE people in the army who joined BEFORE 9/11.. in fact the vast majority are those folks. They joined to serve their country.

So, after spending four years deploying and deploying again only to get pulled out before mission complete, I imagine instead of eating crow, they'll just vote Republican next time (even if they're Democrats).

Note: USA will fail in Iraq because people like you want it to... and elected a bunch of defeatists into the senate, and will probably elect defeatist into the office of the President in 2008 who will continue to tie the hands of American Soldiers who are in combat.

You should run for office. You fit in with the whiny, liberal, defeatist type who's looking to run the country into the ground then cry it wasn't your fault.

How does it feel to know that you are a traitor to your country? With people like you around, the Taliban and Al Quaeda have someone to do their work for them. Congratulations. You are the best friend that the enemies of America have.

Actually crow taste like chicken, which the democrats sort of resemble....should be interesting to see all the clucking when the new Republican President deals with the chicken coop come '09.

Another example of a Democrat who does not support our troops. Typical.
