First off - doing weight bearing exercise is a very good thing for several reasons. Increased muscle mass will cause your resting metabolic rate (the amount of calories your body uses at rest) will go up. Weight bearing exercise is also very good for your bones, you will be healthier when your old.
The downside of weight bearing exercise is that muscle weights more than fat. You may not see weight loss, but weight gain.
So - yes, you should lift weights. Don't judge your progress based on the scale. Judge your progress by how well you feel and if your cloths fit better.
You will probably find that your jeans fit better, but you didn't lose any weight. You will also find that you are hungrier.
If you just want to lose 10 pounds, drink huge amounts of water - guarantee you will lose 10 pounds, but it will come right back if you slow down on the water intake. Your body requires water to function, it stores water unless you supply a constant influx of water. This is where weight watchers/Jenny Craig etc.. get the 10 lb guarantee from.

Burning calories is not an easy thing as of I know.
I was weighing 206 lb last year. When I started working out say just walking 3 miles on treadmill at a above average speed, I started losing weight about 2 lb per week. Initally the rate of loss of weight is more and the graph comes down.
But I'm sure this is not the case for everyone. Metabolism in each and everyone's body is different.
You body may tend to lose weight more faster than others or gain faster.
First we have to talk with the body. We need to know how our body reacts when we do certain things. Understand it and mould is the simple theory.
To lose thighs, you have to walk 3 miles per day on an average. I advice you not to work out on any other machine other than treadmill, cycling in gym. I mean, if you are thinking of losing fat in arms and lower elbow, better play tennis or do ground excercise instead of using machines. If you use machines, it will not only burn fat, but makes it harder and you get more manly look.
First logic is reduce the fat by losening the muscles and train our body to lose or gain weight as we wanted.
Food: This is another important criteria.
Never take Junk food. Chips, Burgers, Hot Dogs, Creams, Thick milk, Yogurt. Take more vegetables, less chicken, you can take turkey, it's less in fat.
Take more wheat based bread and fibrous food.
Eat only when you are hungry. In the rest of the time, if you feel like having something, better take liquid stuff.
Try these for 2 months. You will lose 1 lb per week.
All the best.
I'm also in the same situation but male. You can email me to share your thoughts.

Try a cleansing diet! I did and lost 11 pounds and 21 inches in only 9 days. I was very happy with the results and continued on the program and lost 29 pounds in 5 weeks. This is the fastest I have ever lost with other diets like Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Medifast, Slimfast etc…. Cleansing works by removing impurities from your body. You get impurities from your food (pesticides, preservatives, food additives, colorings) water, chemicals, pollution, medications, alcohol, hormones that the animals you eat were fed etc….YUCK! The impurites get coated with fat and remain in your body. To remove the fat, you have to remove the impurites. This system worked for me, maybe it can work for you too. You can check out the website or call this toll free number 1-877-587-4647 for more info. The program is not cheap, but it is worth every penny since it works and keeps you motivated. Good luck! Yep, the eternal search for a quick fix to beuaty and weight loss. No dissrespect, but it seems to be everybody's deire in this day and age. The best advice I can give you is simoly:
1. Make a specific goal(Sounds that you have) A goal that is both acheivable, realistic and measurable, eg height to weight ratio is a recognised scientific guide to weight, check out your appropriate weight for your height.
Your smaller than most people, so Im guessing somewhere between 65 to 78 kilos.
Best way to lose weight is as follows:
1. Make a plan and stick to it, but be prepared to alter it upon receiving new professional advice.
2. Be determined, have an open minset about this issue. Its obviously important to you or you wouldn't have asked this question.
3, Prioritise how important of acheivibf your goal, say out of 1 to 10 wher 1 is the lowest and 10 is the highest.
4. Scientists, say that if you can keep your heart rate above 120 beats per minutes for 20 minutes each day, this will actually increase your ability to metabolise foods.
5. Consult a professional and work out a plan together. Follow their advice unless you want a second opinion.
6. Try to partner up with someone who wants to loose weight just as bad as you do. You can both inspire each other not to give up.
7. Naturally watch what you eat. Make small changes in your diet until it becomes second nature, like eg, have only 1 suger in your coffee instead of two etc..
8. Reduce the actually qauntity of food you eat little by little, so you hardly recognise it.
9. Remember, slow and steady wins the race. Give it time, dont be impatient, and finally,
Most people don't know thta we eat our food the wrong way around.
EG: Start off with a decent breakfast, bigger than usual and make this the main meal of the day, as you will be up and about moving around burning it off during the day. Plus, a decent breakfast quicj starts the metabolism. For lunch, go for somthing that is not heany but is satisfying, eg, two sandwhiches, a piece of fruir and sugerless drink plently of water before mealtime, as this will make you feel more full and you are likely to eat less. Finally, come tea time (When you use to think it was the major meal of the day, Kind of like a reward for going to work etc saying to yourself I earned this.) Change that thinking, because the tea or late meal is the least important meal of the day, you already had that this morning, remember, its all about changing the way you think.
Remember if you do have a big meal, what do most people do after eating tea. They sit back and relax and usually watch television or play xbox etc, so they don't burn the calories off, it goes straightn to the waist and the thunder thighs.
For tea, even a glass of water, a cup of coffee or some fruit juice, combined with a peice of fruit and low fat yogurt. And if your really hungry\, steamed rice and vegies in small portions. Remember, your not going to die if you eat less than half of what you usually have for tea.
Remember the old saying,: " For breakfasst, eat like a king, for lunch eat like a prince and for tea eat like a pauper.
Good Luck in your quest. Let me know how tou go.
Cheers Slamdunk
