Your disappointment is understandable. We experience such situations often in life. Try to get over the current disappointment by thinking about the saying that when one door closes, another one gets opened.
Analyze why you couldn't succeed while the winner succeeded. If you have a tape of the speeches or could recall the content, delivery and style of the various contestants (including yourself), go through these and find out where the others scored over you. Check with someone who can view this objectively. This wold help you to realize where you need to improve, and then practice better in the area of weakness. You would soon find that your confidence returns and you would be rewarded with success.
Learn to accept success and disappointment with equanimity - this would avoid stress. Good luck.

Say, "Gee Willakers!", or "Aw shucks!". Or just get over it you big cry baby. A speech competition is not that prestigious. You win, and people know you know how to give a speech, oooooooh, big whoop. You lose and people think you don't, oh no!, the end of the world!
You could either kill yourself over it, or chalk it up as experience and go for it again. Practice makes perfect. But for god's sake, don't lose any sleep over it.

dont be diappointed, just learn from the winners, brush up your skills and try again. when you finally succeed, you will feel much fulfilled compared to winning it immediately.

i guess you can improve on content or your speaking style. i think one person speaks most passionately about his/her favourite topics.
