I understand that an electrical socket is shown by an 'x' or 'xx' for a double socket. For a lightswitch an 's' or 'ss' for a double. Can anyone confirm this?

We use a circle with two parallel lines for a standard 120V duplex 20A receptacle near the floor. "S" for a light switch, which may be followed by a lower-case letter to key it to the lights which it controls. Ultimate authority is the drawing legend, which may take exceptions to standard practice.
