In towns, all across America, there are people that do not come close to being "xenophobic". They welcome immigrants - while rejecting illegals.
Just because someone believes in enforcement of laws doesn't make them "xenophobic". Those that believe and follow such are known as 'law abiding citizens'.

Personally I think our way of life is just fine. To me it started to get scarey when we became too PC and started this "global" garbage of accepting everything and deminishing what it is to be American to appease all these other countries and "their culture" and way of life. As I see it.....there's a whole big wide world out there and if you don't like it here....there's the door. The only thing people want from us is money.....being American is more than that. I'd just as soon clean house and lock the doors and let the true Americans start over and get this country back.

Its nice that you have traveled. we did not get this way by our own. There was a lot of help from the other countries talking crap about how they think we are fat and lazy. I to have traveled. we worked for what we have and where we are in this world. it was not given. as for the way we think i feel we should lock up our borders and let the rest of the world be we need to take care of our own for a change. no more foreign aid no nothing.

I don't know why someones' thinking could possibly be a
problem...Thinking is individual process proving someone
is a thinking creature...It doesn't matter whether I'm American,
German or Russian or whatever...As for the way of life, don't
we choose that individually ?! OK, I mean there are things like
military service, rules of conduct, but basically we can say we
are free to think and free to live the way we choose, can't we ?

It is a lot worse in other countries. There is censorship everywhere. Try to find out what the status of rape or murder is in the Cayman Islands. That is in the British West Indies. They have censorship. They will not tell you what is going on. Yes there is even slums there. Seen them. I will stay here. At least I am allowed to shoot back in this country. Not just a lamb for slaughter like in the UK.

Instead of sitting at home in front of your computer, if you are so disillusioned by what America has "become", why don't you make an effort to change what you see is wrong? It is easy to sit there and do nothing but gripe and moan, but it takes courage and conviction to try and solve the problems.

Well as an American you should know that what you see from the outside is not what the people desire. The masses want a different path but those in charge refuse to listen and they make us all look like jerks.
Whose fault is this...it is the fault of the masses for not chucking the leaders as soon as they prove they suck at their job..it is also the fault of the masses for electing people based on who has the catchier slogan.
All that being said I love America and my way of life and I am sick of the rest of the world laying all their burdens on us. I say we pull all our troops back to the homeland and let the rest of the world kick the crap out of each other, except UK and Israel..they rule!

Next time, buy a one-way ticket, if you think it's that bad here.
PS I know that my answer is snide. But the question itself seemed elitist and dismissive. Maybe if there were details instead of a pat conclusion I would have had more to respond to.
