I have a nikon 4600 coolpix and the moisture has gotten inside the lens and actually condenses. I get the blurry pix message and it has formed a permanent ring on the inside. How did this happen (did not drop it or anything), and what can be done. Have already sent it in to Nikon and they returned it not fixed. Any help?

I did bring it in from cold to warm to cold again, but this didn't effect anyother persons camera, so that alone cannot be the reason for my problem. Any other help.

Oh, and I did contact Nikon who have not contacted me as of yet. I don't believe that Nikon stands behind their products or service. Nikon is not all that they claim to be.

I had an experience similar to that, only I actually dropped my camera into a pail of water. Can you tell how smart I am? Anyways, all I did was left it under a desk light. If you had a really tough camera, you may be able to place in the sun (to be safe, stick to the lamp). If the moisture was able to get in, it should be able to evaporate and escape the camera.

PS You should use a camera case. Preferably a Lowepro one (usually soft). Finally I suggest you complain to Nikon for the terrible service.

If the water has already been removed and you still see a permanent ring in/ on your lens, either:
* the water left a deposit (possibly the lubricant)
* some chemical reaction has eaten away at a coating or glass element
* possibly a fungus has formed and eaten away at the coating or glass - no joke, this can happen.
If it's a deposit, the ring can be wiped off, but you'll probably have to foot the bill to disassemble & reassemble the lens yourself.
Chemical or fungal damage is permanent. This would have taken at least days and probably weeks to form however. Repairing it would certainly cost more than the replacement value of the camera.

do no longer use reveal screen preview each and each of the time. - that's like watching television. do no longer play round with the Zoom and Tele - that's like your Razor. Disable the flash at the same time as taking exterior. Use the viewfinder to shoot. restoration your images to huge and set your mode to SHQ. i will wager you'll end approx 2 hundred images on a 128 mb. I attempt this each and each of the time. 2 AA's isn't envisioned to potential an area go back and forth. it truly is the rationalization at the same time as new the digital camera got here w/ 16mb or 32mb.
