Blood cells specially RBC have a longevity of 120 days. But entire donated blood contains RBC of ages 1 day to 120 days. Our bone marrow quickly secretes RBC to replace the cells on an average of 60 days.

it takes three weeks to recover the donated blood. as the body takes time to adjust in replacing the lost cells. though the volume is immediately taken care of by compensatory mechanisms but to replace the actual amount of red cells lost takes about 3 weeks to be replaced.

Blood volume is replaced almost at once. RBC's are replaced in weeks.
