Alot of people have been having a fuss about video games lately - "They're evil, they're depriving our youth of their innocence, blah blah blah" - So what do you think? Safe or unsafe? Is a guy who played Halo going to gun down an old lady in the parking lot or not?

There are good and bad elements in EVERY media in existense. There are good games and there are bad games. Allot of it is subjective. Not only on the matter of good or bad but also on the matter of reaction. 1 person may play a violent game and show minimal side effects of added aggression, frustration, etc. While another may play video chess and throw a fit after.

I try, though not always well, to base the games I play on my personal principles. This is the best we can do.

Video games are safe, for the most part. It depends, though. For example, an eight year old child with both parents out of the home the majority of the time should NOT be allowed to play Grand Theft Auto or anything similar to that, unless his (or her) parents are at least home enough to teach values (like, don't steal cars, and don't shoot people). And I also believe that video games should be played ONLY in moderation. There's no excuse for ANY person to play more than six hours a day. My husband can play more on the weekends (he deserves it), but not much more than six hours.

I don't believe that video games should be used as a primary source of entertainment. I think ALL people need other things to keep them entertained, i.e. sports, movies, books, interacting with others, et cetera.

They're fun. What do you mean people have been fussing lately? The older generations do that every time something new comes along. Its not that unusual. Remember the "rock n roll is the devil" time?

I personally don't like video games because H is a HUGE fanatic but its like with rock music, NOTHING happens because of it. If parents paid more attention to their child's behavior it wouldn't be a problem. Predominately violent kids shouldn't be playing video games they should be in therapy.

Computer games don’t affect kids… If Pacman affected us as kids, we’d all be running around in darkened rooms munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music.

well the influx of content over the internet such as pornography, violence filled movies, games, will probably not cause as much harm to a mature adult, but to a young child it could be filling his mind with the wrong values. "he's in my way, just kill him". parental guidance is always the best thing other than completely doing away with the game.

They're fine, it's the people who play them. This is why you don't let your retarded children play fυcking video games, just like you don't let stupid people read a FICTIONAL BOOK!!
