I have been a Christian for a long time. I have never heard of any Christian hating a Roman Catholic or anyone. We may disagree on a few things but that is just healthy debate. Why do people think that when a Christian of any denomination participates in a debate he is spewing hate?

Baptism is done on an infant in the Catholic church. Many other religions think a person should make the choice to be baptized when they are older.

Atheists do no longer continually criticize the Catholic church for one element. For argument's sake, enable's say it fairly is actual that Christian trip trips have been set on the dates of previous pagan trip trips. So what? it does not make the social gathering of the start of Christ any much less significant or valid. although, you prefer some data. The historic documentation to assist the declare that Christians stole this date purely isn't there. surely, whilst it comes to Christmas, the opposite is shown. as an example, the earliest written point out of Sol Invictus being on December 25 dates from 274 (a proclamation of Emperor Aurelian). yet, the earliest point out of the social gathering of Christ's start being on that day dates from the 365 days 202 (St. Hippolytus of Rome's assertion on Daniel). of course it somewhat is unquestionably earlier Constantine stumbled on the scene. Likewise, previous to the date stated on the Philocalian calendar. So regardless of if it exchange into no longer however the "respectable" date, it exchange into already being celebrated previous to any historic point out of Sol Invictus (et al) being celebrated on that day. it fairly is a sturdy threat, then (Roman emperors being Roman), that Aurelian tried to usurp a substantially-held Christian holy day, quite than any different way around. additionally the Catholic church did no longer would desire to make it much less perplexing for pagans to transform via overtaking the pagans' trip trips. Pagans had already changing in droves long earlier the respectable organization of the Catholic church purely based upon the message of the gospel. extra desirable, CHRISTMAS exchange into by no capacity a pagan trip. Pagans by no capacity had a trip referred to as Christmas. So their trip trips, regardless of they have been or regardless of they are speculated to be, weren't stolen.

This is the bad thing about religions. They all have their "extras" and they all want to convert others. Also alot of them are false anyway. This is why I don't follow any particular religion. I use to be catholic and renounced that religion and became a born again Christian and I am now a follower of Jesus. There is no need to follow a religion. God never asked us for that. All that is required is to go to God and repent our sins through Jesus Christ, admit that we are sinners and do not deserve Heaven, then ask Jesus into your heart and accept Him as our Savior and believe in Him, follow His teachings out of the Bible and witness to others, the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. That's it!
John 3:3 tells you that you must be born again. The catholics don't tell you this. I know this to be true.

In their minds, they feel Catholics are "idol" worshippers because they have statues and photos, etc of not only Jesus but ::gasp:: Mary as well. I don't understand why they are so criticial of another Christian denomination, especially since technically one could consider the Bible to be a religious icon and they certainly worship that!!

Presbyterians are often critical of Catholics.
My understading is that the general issues are:
* non-Biblical teachings (such as Mary worship and purgatory)
* weak emphasis on repentance (confession is adequate)
* less emphasis on salvation through faith
* less emphasis on studying the Bible
* Pope infallibility
* traditions and teachings of the church have more or less equal validity with the Bible

Well, at least the Methodists and the Baptists didn't torture and burn people to death for nearly a thousand years because others didn't agree with them.
