Yeah me too. I just find my peace in the rain. Somehow it fills me with serenity. Either the pattern that I think exists as it falls, or I'm just being my weird self.

Nature's rhythms, because they are our own deepest rhythms, can be the greatest healer.
Because the sound of the rain falling down is very therapeutic. It makes you feel like you are washing away the bad stuff and starting fresh. Rain makes me think of nature and how powerful it is and how powerless I am with it. It makes me stand back and admire the beauty of it all. That's why there are so many meditation cds that have rain falling in the background, even with others like the ocean, sounds of nature, animal sounds, and tropical sounds. These sounds take us out of where we are and make us feel planted somewere else, somewhere safe and serene.

Water neutralizes negative ions in the air thus taking away static. It also brings a fresh gush of oxygen. The same reason you feel like singing in the shower!!
By the way, it's 6 am and raining right now here in Buenos Aires ...

Me too. I used to think it was the sound but I heard that rain changes the ions in the air and that is what helps.

i think is because the continuous and steady sound of rain creates a pattern, and that is very relaxing, plus the moisture in the air helps to have a better breathing.

As night time falls your brain produces melatonin which calms you to prepare you for sleep. On cloudy days your brain may be produceing melatonin. Some people who work shift work actually take melatonin in tablet form to help them sleep. Also long dark winters cause an excess of this chemical hense people use light boxes to mimic sunny days to elevate their mood.It may not be the rain at all it may just be dimmer light.(sunny day is about 10,000 lux of light, cloudy day may only be 2-3 thousand lux)
