At times we dream about deceased relatives or friends simply because we miss them. These dreams may be most likely a form of wish-fulfillment or are based on memory through which we relive old experiences. Some people believe that in dreams they meet up with the deceased on the inner planes and engage in "real" interactions with them. It is normal to miss and long for the people that we loved and that have left the physical body. Therefore, it is not surprising that they will pop up in our dreams from time to time.

I have the same experience, my grandmother passed away some years ago. I have had dreams about her that were soooo detailed and so vivid much clearer than any other dreams. Some say, and this is what i believe, that our loved ones can visit us from the other side but only at those times when our brains are tuned in to that certain frequency. For some they can sense spirits even when they are awake. my late grandmother was very "intuitive" for lack of a better and trying not to sound like a quack! Take comfort that your mom loved you so much that not even death could stop her from being close to her child.

Some people say that dreams are a way into the unconscious mind and show the wishes of the unconscious. A defence mechanism for the brain to cope with traumatic events is to transfer them into the unconscious. I would conclude this is why you dream about her because it's a wish.
Other people believe that dreams are caused by random firings of the brain when it's repairing take your pick.
I personally believe that it is your unconscious mind transferring it into your conscious.

I am sorry for your loss.I think you should pay attention to your dreams, most likely there is a message from your mom, if only to tell you that she is at peace & loves you very much,& still very much a part of your life, look for other signals as I am sure this is not the only communication she has tried- songs on the radio, smells, etc
enjoy the peace of being with her again ......

When I dream about my mom she is always alive too. She died in 2002. My dad died quite a while ago and I don't dream of him that often but when I do he is alive. I am happy I don't have to dream about them dead though. It is an odd feeling isn't it?

I, too, have lost my mother - and it was one of the saddest periods in my life. Your dreams keep her alive!
I had a dream about work, and one of my handicapped friends, who has trouble walking - was running in a field with us
sweet dreams!

My mother died in 2001, she had dementia for a few years before she died and didn't even know who my father was.
I see in dreams sometimes, and she's just like she was before she had dementia. I even said to her (in the dream), "I thought you had dementia and you died" and she said "that didn't really happen." I find this very comforting.

Our memories are filled the lives of our loved ones... so when we remember them they are always alive...think of it...we only ever get to see them dead once.... there is no life after death just our memories..

There's nothing wrong with it. She may have passed away but she isn't dead to me and I never met her cuz I'm Christain. If you aren't religious, then its perfectly fine to see her alive especially if it makes you happy. You aren't insane, trust me, I am. ^_^
