And, why do they go untreated?

I found a website with this fact... (of course I know how to spell. Do you know how to read between the lines? People aren't perfect.)

In print it's LIBEL.. not slander, but thanks for all the threats. I maintain... every JW I know has mental issues. Reality is not present. Even my fiance needed help before he could function in society. I still maintain. And the question is WHY DO THEY... not TELL ME WHY I'M WRONG.

I'm not a professional in this area, and can not state categorically if this is true, but I do remember reading various articles which listed stats that JW's are often treated for paranoia and anxiety disorders(ocd, scrupulosity, and such).

***I'll try to find those articles and post!

JWs put a lot of importance on acts, works, and collecting points with their witnessing, preaching, and even here on Yahoo Answers, so there is definitely a compulsion factor with the few I've "personally" noticed(as there are some JWs who are quite nice). If this is true, it would explain why they seem to be the most defensive group on here. The point collecting and numbers appeal to them.

God is balanced, and not of confusion. He states there is a time and a place for everything. So any Christian who crosses the line into compulsion should pray for understanding.

Also, if you visit their main website, you'll see that JWs post many watchtower and awake articles on different forms of mental illness, and how to recognize signs among their members. So they've obviously noticed a pattern. I'm not sure if the nature of their religion attracts these type of people(very possible), or if they become that way after practicing cult-like beliefs and behaviors.

1st Humans have verying degrees of mental illness and infirmaties because we are ALL immperfect sinful humans. As any Christian knows there have only been 3 perfect humans recorded in the Bible. Out of them only 1 even died perfect. The rest of us live and die as imperfect humans. So obviously with millions of Witnesses there are going to be some of us who have more pronounced mental problems than others. I have seen a few on here who make claims such as Witnesses have the HIGHEST rate of mental illness or commit more sucides than ANY other, You are the first person I have seen to actually provide a reference. I have yet to see what it is. As for going untreated, some I am sure do, for a variety of reasons. Others do not. I myself am/have undergone treatment. The doctors really dont know what to think of my problems. This has made it very hard to get effective help. According to march of dimes research we did, it could be that in part my problems are from living under high power wires. The ONLY qualifyer to be a Christian/Witness is to know and strive to follow the Bible. We would never remove someone/keep someone away for having mental illness. Hope this helped clarify things.

Ok. Looked at the link. I noticed it is not from a pyshciactric magazine, but rather a website someone set up about Witnesses. Here in lies one problem with the net. Don't get me wrong I have made wonderful use of it, but, many sadly seem to take info they read on here as FACT when in fact unless you yourself know the faces there is no way to know if a website is at all accurate.

Do people believe every slanderous thing that they read? I think it would do people well to realize that there are many motives to articles such as the one you are pointing out...

Jesus left us with these words of comfort...

John 15: 18 & 19: "If the world hates YOU, YOU know that it has hated me before it hated YOU. 19 If YOU were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because YOU are no part of the world, but I have chosen YOU out of the world, on this account the world hates YOU."

So we take instride what the people of this system of things say about us. At least it shows that Jehovah's name is getting known.

Just the usual anti witness rhetoric by someone with little direction in their lives so they do this because they know people will believe them without question. They can be real gullible. I've dealt with their type for years when they find out I'm disfellowshipped and they want me to lie about why so that they can gain points with their willing audience.

I'm sorry, I guess that's you.

I imagine that the first Christian Jews were considered a little crazy or demonized by their fellow Jews. So, you're in good company.

My Wife and I are Jehovah's Witnesses and we are fine and very happy. We got baptized in Aug. 1996 and we have been married for almost 11 years. I'm 35 and my wife is 33 and we are expecting our first child. Before studying with Jehovah's Witnesses I searched and searched long and hard for the truth. But the religions I looked into were so wrapped up with Pagan beliefs and traditions it was amazing !!! I was the most skeptical of the Witnesses when we started studying, because of all the weird things I heard about them. That they don't believe in Jesus and so on. But as I studied with them I found that all the things I heard was just lies. Satan attacks Jehovah's Witnesses on a daily basis more than any other religion. It's because we have the truth. Please don't believe the lies. If you want to know about Jehovah's Witnesses ask a active Witness. Don't ask someone that hates them.
The truth will set you free.
