I have the same thing, I feel for you. At night rub Vicks Vapor Rub on ur' chest & neck and cover it with a dry towel. Take lots of Halls Cough drops during the day. Those seem to work well. I wish you well soon!

The tickle in your throat is being caused by your Sinuses draining down your throat.
Use something, like a kleenex, to get your nose cleaned-out.
One natural way (for me) is to take a hot shower, putting my face directly into the water stream. While doing this, take one finger and press close one nostril, then forcefully exhale through the nostril that's open. Keep doing this until your nose is cleaned-out.
Then, just repeat the procedure with the other nostril.
Be careful not to exhale so forcefully you cause your Ears to pop. That could be somewhat painful.

I've encountered that problem before and HEY, cool it, you won't break your rib. Anyway, the problem first derived from your cold. Consult a doctor for the pills and don't eat heaty foods that will worsen it. In that case, it will probably heal in 2 days of medicine intake. The tickle in your throat is also caused by your cold. Just remember to have more water. If your head hurts from coughing, i think it's not really possible. If a headache take some panadol for help. If not, it should be because of the coughing.
