The point of that part is to check for equlibrium (balance) issues and to also check for muscular and bone issues etc. Usually they also make you bear walk crab walk bend over etc. Its all to make sure we have healthy people in so that you dont get messed up later on due to a under lying health issue .......shadow stalker

Walking on tip-toes is a check for balance and generally your neurological health. Stripping down to boxers is normal so they can check for marks, your chest, heart, back, etc.

To make sure your achilles tendons aren't damaged. If they were, you wouldn't be able to walk comfortably on you tippy toes. I've strained my achilles once. I could barely walk at all. Not really sure why they do all of that while you're in underwear, though.

Because if your knees or hips are jacked up you won't be able to do that move. I have bad knees and I barely got through that section on my phyisical. I sucked it up basically, but normally I wouldn't be able to do any of the weird moves they make you do at MEPS during that test. I does keep the people out that are injured or have leg and hip issues.

I may be way off, but I think it's to check for equilibrium and/or lumbar curvature. I don't really remember that far back, though :-)
