I live and work in Vegas as a poker dealer and i can tell you to just have fun while you are town. Now some people act like total idiots and some are very nice people who are just looking to have fun and relax. Here in Vegas table games go up on the weekends, as well as room rates, because that's when most go out to gamble. Here in Vegas they have most tables at 5 dollars all the way up to 5000. As far as tipping goes you can tip table dealers as you see fit, usually 1-2 dollars when you hit your hand. Just have fun but be pre paired to lose some or you could hit the big one, good luck....

Good for you. I hope you have a good time. The dress is causal, and things are pretty relaxed.
As for gaming, set a limit for gambling say $300 a day. Then when that is gone, that's all your gambling for the day, do something else instead like walk the Boardwalk or do some shopping.
Tipping, well it seems that everyone has his hand out. Give the bell hop 1 or 2 dollars a bag, give the maid about 5 a day, just leave the money on the dresser. If you are gambling, the drinks will be free but do tip the waitress a buck or so. It is also customary to tip the dealer if you are at a table. Several ways to do this. If you are losing, then don't worry about it, they don't expect you to tip them. If you are winning then you can either give them a tip when you leave the table or you can place a side bet on the table for the dealer, if you win then they win, if you lose then they lose.
If you are at the slots and hit a winner that they have to come and make you fill out a statement then tip them 1% or 20 bucks which ever is larger.
Waiter and waitresses should get 15-20% if you are at a full service restaurant, and less if you are at a buffet.
The dress attire is a little more formal if you are going to a high class restaurant, which is natural and to be expected.
Just remember, if you are in a casino there are cameras on you at all times unless you are in the rest room or your hotel room. This is done for your safety and theirs too. If you think something was unfair they can view the film and see if they made a mistake and the gaming commission can view the films to make sure everything is on the up and up.
You should have a great time. Just don't drink too much while you are gambling and get carried away and lose too much. Keep your eye on your valuables at all times, if you are playing at a table or even at the slots, keep your puse on your lap that way no one will steal it. Try not to flash money around, again just common sense. Stay in the casino area and do not wander by yourself.
The area around AC or Atlantic City is a little rough so don't go walking around late at night unless you stay on the boardwalk and you'll be fine.
there you go, now you know all I know, more or less about AC.

most likely it won't matter, because there will much much worse than you there.
there's 12+ casinos in atlantic city with different kinds of crowds from the kinda upscale (e.g. borgata, with its night clubs, restaurants with famous names, etc.) to the other side of the spectrum with a lot of tourists etc. so as far as fashion goes, it depends on what else you might be doing that night/day.
if you're just gambling, go for comfort. if you're going to be there for a while might as well be comfortable, it might also help you play better.
as far as tipping goes, most table games dealers pool their tips, so it doesn't really mean anything to tip on the behavior / quality of your specific dealer, just throw them a dollar or so out of every win or more out of a big win (say a 30-1 payoff).
this is not the case with poker where the dealers keep every dollar they're tipped. this is because how fast and how well they handle the game determines how many hands are played in a particular stint at a table. generally a dollar out of every pot is par for the course, but more should you feel the urge is acceptable as well.
if you're really new at the casino, a good beginner game i guess would be roulette. doesnt require that much skill and unlike blackjack, your play doesn't really affect other people.
as far as behavior goes, don't be a douchebag just because you're losing, these people are working long hours to be there and they're probably hoping that you win since winners tip more than the dead broke.
as far as my places to go are concerned, if you're only going to be in town for a couple days, i'd head for the borgata. it's nice looking and a little removed from the other casinos so you don't get as much riffraff. there's also a lot to do there besides gamble. the buffet's great there too (also the showboat buffet's pretty nice too). Likewise, the tropicana is getting up there as well (sunday brunch buffet there is pricey, but from what i hear, it's fantastic).
if you don't feel like eating in the casinos the whole time, good places to eat in atlantic city include 'The White House Sub Shop' at 2301 Artic Ave (at the corner of artic and mississippi). great sandwiches and alex trebek swears by it.
and Tony's Baltimore Grille (pizza) at 2800 atlantic ave. (at the corner of atlantic and iowa)
oh and there's also a bunch of outlet shops and with the nice weather, a walk on the boardwalk at, say, sunset wouldn't be a bad way to take a break from gambling.
hope this helped.

Nettelyk, act the same way you would act in any public place.as far as gambling goes, know how much you are willing to SPEND on gambling, and don't go one cent above that amount,if you are going for more then one day,
divide that amount among the days.attire dress casual in the casino, and less glamerous resturaunts. dress up for the hi end dining places.at shows, people dress casual.tip as you allways do,over tipping wont impress anyone there

Dress normal! Don't get too drunk and if you aren't good table games stick to the video ones. Valet, should be given a min of $2.00 I don't care what you pay to park they get min wage. Restaurant staff if sit down min is 15% if great service 20% double the tax round to nearest dollar add $2.00. Buffet wait staff should get min of 10%. Also ask at a Hallmark store they might have a tip card you can carry in your wallet.
Former valet & I love to gamble
