Henry Kissinger was Secretary of State under Nixon and practicioner of "Realpolitik." This is a German word meaning "realistic politics", which describes the practice of aggressive foreign policy using political, military, and economic bullying for superiority. It is the opposite of the unrealistic or idealistic style of foreign policy that is noble, nice, and feel-good. This is what he thinks about the military:

"Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy." ~ Henry Kissinger ~ January-February 2003 edition of Eagle Newsletter

Why is this man advising the current administration on the war in Iraq? Anyone who respects the soldiers of this country would never employ someone with so much disregard for them. This is despicable.

1. This quote is widely attributed to Kissinger from the mentioned source. Just do a Google search. If you're asking if I've seen the actual newsletter, no, I have not.

2. Pope Benedict, I am in the US Army so shut your mouth.

Don't worry; there are plenty of gay guys who are not military. Just go ahead and opt for one that meets your fancy. Just find one who will say you are a silly savage.

I think you are reading way too much into this. Henry Kissinger is an experienced and knowledgeable man in foreign affairs.

I'm not aware of the quote or its exact context, so I can't comment. But, were I the Bush administration I would seek advice from anyone who has a good background to give it, and I would act on that advice as I saw fit.

And I have seen no evidence whatsoever that President Bush thinks troops are expendable.

I have heard the term "Realpolitik," but I don't use it and frankly don't know or care very much about it or what its possible meanings might mean.

And you must know Henry Kissinger very well if you know what he thinks. I've known about him for about 40 years and I don't know him that well.

I wonder at the context of that quote from Kissinger. It sounds like something a bit out of character for him.

I can tell you though that President Bush does not consider tropps to be "expendable." That being said, what good is a military when a government lacks the will to deploy them?

It is true the Bush administration believe that the troops are expandable.
Anything to get the job done.
Bush is not a patriot.

His supporters refused to abandon him and his cronies because fear of a loss of face.
"I supported him long enough, High Hell come what may, I am going to support this President no matter what."

That is why these people are blinded by their devotion to this person. To say he did wrong is to admit that THEY made a mistake.

Bush can do no wrong in their eyes.

The very fact that Henry Kissinger is advising the Bush administration, tells you what kind of regime the White House is now.

I believe that Bush considers the troops expendable because they're poor people. In his world, the poor don't count. They're looked upon as inferior people, because if they were good enough, they wouldn't be poor.

I find it hard to believe that Kissinger would say something so inflammatory. He's not a nice guy, but he's not stupid.

First of all I would like a link to the transcript that says that. I dont believe for one minute that Kissinger said that. Kool Aid Alert.

OK, I FOUND THE TRANSCRIPT. IT WAS WRITTEN IN A BOOK CALLED "KISS THE BOYS GOODBYE: HOW THE UNITED STATES BETRAYED ITS POW'S IN VIETNAM." THE LINE IS TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT. IF YOU READ THE TRANSCRIPT, THE DUMB AND STUPID COMMENT REFERS TO HOW THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AT THE TIME DIDNT CARE ABOUT OUR POW'S. IT DOESNT MEAN WHAT YOUR QUESTION IMPLIES.

If Bush thought that troops were expendable then he wouldnt have McKain supporting him at all. Presidents make mistakes. Are you that stupid to think that he is not a human just like you and me? Also he has to get the people in his administration approved by Congress.

Of course. You can't fight a war if every man under your command questions your reasons for it.
