The official American pronunciation (as stated by Hyundai's US operations when they started in the mid 80s) is Hunday (They said that it rhymes with Sunday). The official Korean pronunciation is hyun-de (young minus the g, with an h added at the beginning, followed by a soft de).

In America, because of our accent, we cannot say the Korean "HY" sound in Hyundai, hence the reason why all of us mistakenly say "hi-un-day" or hondai or whatever. With alot of practice, you can pronounce it.
It's pronoucned HYun-day
I tried teaching people how to say it, and they can't hahaha. They end up saying Shundai, because they cannot say the "HY" sound.
