The further south you go the colder it will get. As we are now in Autumn, Melbourne is starting to getting quite cool at night, but the days are mostly clear and sunny. Another few weeks and the leaves will all be falling and the morning frosts will begin in inland Victoria.
After the end of May the cold weather really begins and continues right through to late early October That is when the spring days start to finally be warm enough to notice the change of season and when you can begin to think about putting the woollies away.
The main thing we need desperately is rain. If that doesn't come this year we are going to really have problems in 2008.

The east coast ranges from Thursday Island at about 10°S and near the equator to Hobart at 40°S and influenced by Antarctica. There are the coastal plains and the Great Dividing Range behind them. The Australian Alps with the ski fields are just inland from the coast.

Well, really it depends what part of the east coast you are going too. If you went to Tasmania up to some parts of Sydney during winter , it gets quite cold. If you go from the Coffs harbour up to Queensland you generally get warmer whether.
But if you need to know an exact place , send a message back and I will reply to you.

They are having the worst drought in the history of their existence. At this time of year in the East it will be around the mid 20s. It is warmer and wetter further north around Cairns. Summer months here are dry there.

depends on where you are... the east coast of australia covers a very large territory.
for example it could be hot and 25 degrees in Cairns and cold and 2 degrees in Hobart.
Hard question with no exact real answer.
