I was just wondering because of my personal experience. I am 5'4" and used to weigh 143lbs 10 days ago. I decided I wanted to shed a few lbs so I drastically decrease the amount/calories I ate. I am now down to 136 lbs in about 10 days. Yeah, i'm hungry most of the day (I eat about 900 to 1000 calories a day), but the pounds come off.

The problem isn't always that easy for some people. A lot of people can do what you did, but what happens when you start eating normally again, you will gain that weight back, plus more. First of all (not to burst your bubble), but you are doing what people call binge dieting. A lot of people do this, and they do loose the weight. The problem is that when they stop eating 1000 cals a day, and start eating normal again, they gain their old weight back plus some. The reason for this is because you really slow your metabolism down when you eat few calories. You body has to compensate for less calories by slowing itself. With a slow metabolism, your body will take extra calories and store it as fat. Therefore, when you start eating normal again, the extra cals you take in over 1000 cals, will become fat.

The best way for weight loss, is a lifestyle change. That is why Weight Watchers and other programs like that are so good. They teach you what to eat, and what not to eat. They teach you how to eat proper portion sizes and healthy. They also emphasize the importance of exercise.

Good luck. Be careful with your diet. Helpful hint on how to fix your metabolism - eat 5-6 small meals a day. Include a protein at each meal. Start an exercise program of some sort.

Well, I've got bad news for you- most of the weight you just lost was water. You just don't lose that much fat in 10 days. A teeny, tiny portion of your loss was actual fat, while the majority is water. Why? Because on an ultra-low calorie diet, you've cut your carb intake down to nothing. Carbs are converted to glycogen in the body for energy, and when not used are stored in your muscles or converted to fat. Glycogen takes with it 3 TIMES it's weight in water into your body...so what happened is that you burned off much of your stored glycogen, which released a lot of water. Also, you probably lost a good deal of muscle tissue. This type of dieting also forces the body to turn to muscle tissue for energy through a process called glycogenisis- instead of eating fat for energy, your body prefers the unused muscle first. Your body will save the fat for last. Then, what happens is that when you go back to your regular eating habits (and you will, because no one can eat like that forever) your metabolism will be so drastically lowered due to your loss of muscle and your body's adaptation to restricted calories that you will pack the fat back on PLUS 5-10 extra pounds before you can say "doughnut"! There is no easy way to lose weight- the "quick fix" diet only works temporarilly- the weight comes right back plus some more as soon as you stop dieting.

Because in America, when your hungry, most of the time all you have to choose from to eat is the crap thats around you. You can try to figure out whats healthy to eat, but many times the sources that you learn what is healthy from, isn't truly accurate, which you don't find out until after you either gained more pounds or lost nothing.

People who loose weight fast are A) those with very fast metabolism, B) those who are well informed about exactly the right foods to eat and what you need in your body daily (which is info that is hard to come by for most people), and C) those who are wealthy enough to afford to constantly eat truly healthy foods. Many stores sell healthy foods, but those are usually the more expensive ones. Many resturants have healthy dinners, but again, usually the most expensive resturants, not a Mcdonalds salad.

It's a lifestyle that takes time to get into if you weren't born into a family that already celebrates it.

Main reason the basal metabolism of the person. And it does not help if you eat less. These crash diets slows it down more and next time you will gain wait easier and lose it much harder. Try eating normally (at least 1500 calories) but increasing your exercise time. 1-1.5 hrs for example. That also increases your metabolism, try waits too, that's best if you mix up weights with 30-45 min cardio.

Take 2 tbls. apple cider vinegar in a glass of water 2-3 x day or whenever hungry. ACV has 93 vitamins and minerals which is what people are looking for when they overeat. I was once a chronic overeater (though not fat) and now I can take food or leave it. Makes no difference if food is there or not. My hair and nails used to break off, but now they are long and strong. ACV has cured my adult acne and gotten rid of my depression and tiredness. Works great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For me, it is just pure laziness and lack of discipline. There are two simple rules to losing weight: (1) eat less; and (2) exercise more. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak or so the saying goes.

I find that it is much easier when my wife and I are on the same page in terms of diet (i.e. Atkins or South Beach) and exercise together. Being accountable to each other helps.

First of all, your picture scares the sh!t out of me. Second of all, it's not healthy to cut your calories that much. You need to eat a little more and exercise a lot more. Then it will be easier to lose the weight and you won't be starving.
